AMAZING set design and detail. I could turn off the sound and just look at the details of the sets. I was watching "None But the Lonely Heart" today and saw ?OXO? stenciled on Dad Pettyjohn?s shop window where Ernie bought his smokes on a Sunday. Does anyone know what "OXO" stands for?

If Bette Davis was Mother Goddam, then Marie Dressler was Granny Goddam and paved the way. Ms. Dressler portrayed women who were strong, outspoken and earthy, but somehow had an undercurrent of softness and gentleness about her. There is no end to my love of this woman and her films. What an amazing story behind her film career. What a mug. What a bod. Perhaps the last ?real woman? in film. We?ll never see another like her. She was gone too soon. If I could choose a mother, a grandmother, a sister, an aunt, a best friend?it would be Marie Dressler.
