Yeah, the different lengths might be the problem. Maybe they didn't have a WS print of the longest running time, but did have the 4x3 print of the longest running time, so sent that one, considering it to be the most complete.

Thanks, guys! I guess TCM couldn't get it. The IMDb lists it as being released on Dec. 10th, 2010!

Help yourself.

Medak has made a few great movies. *The Ruling Class*, with Peter O'Toole, is one of my favorites. *The Krays* and *Romeo Is Bleeding* are also quite good. Perhaps he doesn't get the credit yhe deserves because he has done so much TV.

Some folks are just too twitchy.

Well, I work on a college campus. I would say that a much higher level of alcohol consumption is socially acceptable among many of the kids here, than you will ever see in 30s films.

About a week or so ago, I saw a film on the Dec. schedule that is no longer there. It was scheduled for 2am, Saturday Dec. 11th, aka Friday night. It was letterboxed, and the title began with "The Wonderful World of," but I can't remember the rest. Now, *Santa Claus* is scheduled in that slot, but previously, it followed the dropped film. Does anyone know the full title of the dropped film?

Yeah, that's a good one, directed by Fritz Lang. I forgot about it.

W. C. Fields usually played a lush.
In *Them Thar Hills*, Stan, Ollie, and Mae Busch get uproariously tipsy from drinking "water" from a well where moonshiners dumped their whiskey.

I would like to wish a happy date which will live in infamy to everyone!

You're right, I hadn't thought of that! It did occur to me that Cinerama was shown on a curved screen.

In my experience, he avoids serious spoilers. I don't consider mentioning something that happens almost immediately after the start, or a character, much of a spoiler.

It seems to me much like saying: "You are not worth the trouble of me looking for a good gift so I will make you go through the trouble of buying your own from a limited selection." I have received three and *was caught between having to add my own money to buy something I did not really need or leave some money on the card as a gift to the company.* Perhaps it is a thing I will have to learn into.

To me, it is saying 'I didn't want to buy you something you wouldn't like.' A gift card to a favorite restaurant, or to a favorite store, takes care of the problem you mention.
I quite understand about not wanting company logos on clothes and things. I am mostly the same way. I would never have a T-shirt with a Nike Swoosh! If they want me to wear their advertising, they can pay me. I do like T-shirts from concerts, or organizations I like.

I've often wondered. I've noticed that generally, *General Discussions* tends to be hotter...

It would go well on a double bill with *Them*.

It's a decent film, but I had read the short story first, and thought the script could have been better. I've seen it on TV, but not recently. My favorite Heston role will always be Vargas, in *Touch of Evil*.

While I heartily endorse the "Phooey," I had never heard the term "flatscreen print," only the more common 'full screen,' 'pan and scan,' or '4x3' print. So, to me at least, it seems a new term was created.

No, but I have watched Alan Cummings films, because I saw him hosting Masterpiece Mystery.

On that one, unlike the other one, you are correct.

Yeah, he never turned in another performance to equal his playing the part of a giant alien two-legged carrot in *The Thing*.

-
He was NOT a killer in *The Ox-bow Incident*. He and his buddy vote NOT to hang the suspects, and Fonda tries to stop the hanging, but is overpowered. Later, he takes Dana Andrews' letter to his wife. The posse started out legal, with approval from a judge. Fonda tries to keep it legal, but fails.
-
Well, in *Young Tom Edison*, he does work on the railroad, but I don't recall if the song was in the film.

Hell, (MI) is only about 30 miles from where I live, but there are various shortcuts...

Me too!

Since I dislike John Wayne, I am eminently qualified to render an opinion on which are his best films...

They are:
*The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance*
*Red River*
*The Searchers*
*Legend of the Lost*
*Reap the Wild Wind*
*The Big Trail*

Add to this that they initially said that the gun he killed himself with *wasn't* the gun that killed her. I'd have to say I'm skeptical too.
