I was thinking Billy Pilgrim... -

But if the role fits the type, he can be very good. But then, we've left out *They Made Me a Criminal*, *The Sea Wolf*, and *Dangerously We Live*. I guess we'll have to do two boxed sets...

Looking for the name of an old movie

The only thing I can think of is *Dr. Phibes Rises Again*, but that's probably not it. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0068503/ -
OOPPS! I meant *Bullitt* with Steve McQueen...

Jack Davis - movie poster's funniest artist

YOW! Those are some good ones! -
You make some valid points. But, I still maintain that Jack Crabbe, while an individual, and a white man, at least saw things from the Indian's point of view, and was trying to relate that. Certainly, that is the way it comes across in the movie, which I have seen often, and far more recently that I read the book. Yes, there is idealization of the Sioux, and satiric, acerbic views of the whites. But, I would say that comports with the Sioux's views. Jack can just add more detail about the whites, since he was one.

So what is the most frequently shown movie on TCM?

> {quote:title=finance wrote:}{quote}I was on these boards for at least 6 months before I realized that there were such things as personal messages. In the meantime, I had been sent at least 3 of them, which I first read several months after they were sent. I was familiar with PMs long before I was on this board. But, on all the other boards I'm on, I get an email, telling me I have a PM, and, on the site, when I have a PM, there is a little flashing flag. This site doesn't do either of those. So, it was a few days after I got my first PM, before I knew I had one, and read it. -
The House on Telegraph Hill

I liked it a lot. The thing I found most interesting was the relationship between Alan and Margaret. We don't really understand it until the end, and it certainly isn't typical! -

Fred, I have that Welles doc on laser disc. I haven't watched it in a while, but it is good. It would be fine with me, if TCM aired it again. -

Well, just in case you aren't kidding, you should see a little envelope, next to "inbox" in a tab, on the upper right. Click on the envelope to bring up the screen to send, or read, personal messages. -

Well, that makes three of us, and we're ALL big shots! So, hear that, TCMprogrmmr? Geeze, I probably didn't spell that right, so they won't do it, just out of spite... -
Probably the non-Fellini Nino Rota films that are most seen are *The Godfather*, *The Leopard*, and *Waterloo*. TCM also showed the excellent *The Hidden Room*. There are only a few others I have ever seen.He has a huge filmography, going back to 1933. There are many on his filmography that I would much like to see, based on reading the IMDb: *Rome: Free City* 1946 *Woman Trouble* 1948 *How I lost the War* 1948 *His Last Twelve Hours* 1950 with Jean Gabin *This Angry Age* 1958 D. Rene Clement *The House of Intrigue* 1958 *Purple Noon* 1960 D. Rene Clement *A Quiet Place to Kill* with Carroll Baker

I'm a fan of Bourdain's TV shows. He is very opinionated, and cultivates a 'bad boy' image. He often incorporates cinematic references into his travel/food shows. When he did a show in San Francisco, he drove the same model car McQueen did in *Bullet*, on some of the same streets, and did a V/O alluding to the film. He did a *Third Man* theme in Vienna, even going in the sewers! I look forward to seeing him. Edited by: ValentineXavier on Feb 25, 2012 9:51 PM

TCM aired *Princess Tam Tam* and *Zou Zou* within the last year, IIRC, less than two years ago, anyway. But, I hadn't seen them on TCM before that. At any rate, they certainly haven't played them too often to want to see them run again. Of the Robeson films, I don't recall seeing the last two you mention, so they could show them again, too. -

I probably have it on tape somewhere, from back when TCM showed it years ago. I'd love to see it again, on my big HD set. -

Well, in this case, it's probably a personal message, since sending someone a Prime Minister would be rather awkward. -

I also wish they would rerun *Princess Tam Tam*. They only ran it once, and my recording screwed up. -

Stars Who Won the Oscar for Their Best Performance

I respect your opinion. Curtiz and Howe truly are greats. But for me, a film like *White Heat* is just way more powerful. Edited by: ValentineXavier on Feb 25, 2012 7:49 PM -
Stars Who Won the Oscar for Their Best Performance

I'll admit I just don't get you guys who think *Yankee Doodle Dandy* was Cagney's best performance. I'd say he gave truly great performances in at very least half a dozen films. IMO, *YDD* is a piece of harmless schlock, and wasn't a film that could have a great performance.
