Before rebooting, try changing the channel, and changing back. Try swapping tuners, if you have a two-tuner DVR. Then try just turning the box off for 30sec. If that doesn't work, then try a reboot.
The new Motorola DCX series of DVRs has some kind of a flaw that pops up every so often - the screen will freeze, or go black. This can also happen with programmed recording. Changing the channel, then changing back, will make it work again.

The accents are inexplicable, I agree. But, the natural desire of two long separated sisters to have a normal family, all together, with both of their real parents, would seem self-evident to me. Most humans would want that, unless they were sociopaths.

While I feel that way about slapstick, I can't agree that applies to the Marx Bros. Much of their humor is surreal, using puns, double entendres, and social satire. It makes me laugh, every time I see it, and I sometimes notice little things I hadn't noticed before.

When you use crappy media, they will usually play for a while, then go bad while sitting on a shelf, because the errors accumulate past a correctable amount. Good media very rarely does that. Of course, your DVDR that does the burning may also give good burns, or marginal burns that go bad. There are people on the Audio Video Science Forum who have been checking their discs regularly, for years, to see if the error rate increases. Good media, with a good initial burn, will last a long time.

Well, that is easily done. What is more popular in movie theaters, documentaries, or fiction films? Fiction, by far. When you make it up, you are free to make it entertaining. *Fox* just makes it up. The others try to present actual facts, even if some interpret those facts from a particular perspective.

Not tipping is NOT being frugal, it is not paying for services rendered, just as if you didn't pay the electric bill, but the waitress can't cut you off. One's motivation for that could conceivably be greed.
Most stores don't double coupons over 50 cents, but when coupons are doubled, or if they are not, the manufacturer of the product pays for it, not your grocer. That is, unless the store itself issued the coupon, in which case, it's really just a store discount, by another name.
In any event, when you pay what the store asks, that's not greed. Being frugal, that is trying to get by on as little money as possible, is quite different from greed, which is desiring more than you need, more than others have, selfishness.

Yes, I know a Baktun is 394 years, but we are now in Baktun 13, and will "rollover" to Baktun 14 next December. From the wikipedia:

Yes, I read your reply. But, sorry, this is just BS. There is no such thing as a "lower, weaker band," and if there were, TCM wouldn't be on it, or the only channel on it. This is just something the service guy made up. Rarely, there can be a non-head end problem that affects only one specific channel, but it's highly unlikely. Usually, such problems come from the head end. Sometimes it is a problem with a particular satellite. If so, other channels on that satellite will have the same problem. If no other channels have the same problem, it's not the satellite, but the local head end, or possibly in the distribution system to the pole.
The best thing would be to go on the AVS forum, to the thread for the service area involved, describe the problem, and see if others are having it too.

The Fleischers' Somewhere in Dreamland, and the Ultimate Superman collection are very good, as are the Popeye boxed sets. Unfortunately, no one with the rights has seen fit to make a complete Betty Boop set. The Betty Boop compilations vary in quality. Her best toons are those with Cab Calloway, Betty Boop's Sno-White, Minnie the Moocher, and Old Man in the Mountain. Try to find one that has all three. If you find a DVD with Red Hot Mama on it, snap it up!
The WB Looney Toons boxed sets have lots of excellent classic cartoons. But, IMO, the way they are grouped together is an abomination. If only they had just done them chronologically, like the Popeye boxed sets were done.

Most burned DVD failures are due to crummy media. NEVER use Memowrecks!. The only DVDs to use any more are Verbatim AZO, or Verbatim Datalife, - NOT "Verbatim Life," (which is what they sell at most B&M stores these days.) Better yet, order Taiyo Yuden DVDs from Supermediastore, where they are often on sale in cake boxes of 100, and you get free shipping. I've used thousands of Verb AZO, and Taiyo Yuden, with only two or three coasters.

I recall that at least one other had a laugh track. Ugh! So dated.
I've enjoyed many of them, lots of fine actors and directors. The upcoming re-showing of Claire, which was originally shown with a few minutes of black screen at the start, would seem to be the last of the 35 episodes. But, does anyone know if they actually ran ep15, It's Always Sunday, because I never saw it listed!

Even the Maya, who had zero, (represented by a shell,) didn't use their zero to write 20. They had a vigesimal system, and 20 was a single dot.
