I saw a movie recently on TCM (several months ago) about a man and friend in either a lighthouse or a house on the shore during a storm and other people show up stranded that were very unusual and that he finds out died long ago. They have issues - one woman was running away to join the church, one woman had a baby and died - each problem is dealt with and the man learns from them. I think it is from the late 30's or 40's.
I am sorry there is not much info but any help with the title would be appreciated!
