Eventhough Fred & Ginger never wore taps on their shoes when they filmed, the floors were constantly scuffed by the dancing. You can see their reflection in the floor, it was so elegant. You enter this area like a mine field with all the sterotypes etc. But I would advise you to check out Minnelli's *Cabin in the Sky*--it's probably the best of that sort of thing. *Carmen* is an interesting concept. And of course, *Porgy & Bess* is an Opera--not to be taken all that seriously. But it's top-heavy with stero-types. However, the music is divine.
