  1. You are absolutely right! With the older Chevalier, the sexual tension of the triangle wouldn't have been there at all. I liked Guetary's singing so much that, the last time I was in Paris, I bought a live recording of his songs from the movie. What do you think of Jourdan in *The Paradine Case*?   10. Georges Guetary was not the original choice for the part. Believe or not, Minnelli wanted Maurice Chevalier. Both Guetary and Chevalier were noted Paris Music Hall Singing Stars. It seems that someone had blacklisted Chevalier during the War--implying he was a Nazi sympatizer. MGM couldn't clear his name in time to do the picture. But of course, Chevalier was found innocent of all charges. In fact, he had worked for The Resistance, Le Maquis.
