  2. Hollywood Movies are often a remake of a foreign film that the American audience is not familiar with.

In the 1940's, a noted Hollywood director made a film starring a Mega-female movie star.

This film was rather noir, but could be called a non-traditional woman's movie.

The original version was filmed in Europe in the 1930's. Ironically the actress who starred in the European film became a Mega-female movie star too by the '40's.

This may seem difficult at first, but remember both the women were top stars in the 40's and the director made a career of directing such stars.

Please name the Hollywood movie, star and director. For a Brownie point, do you know the European star of the original version?

  3. To think me--William Inge's biggest fan didn't get this right off!

It's Shirley Booth. In addition to *Sheba*, she made 4 other films. 5 in all.

A very good question to remind us of our roots.

  4. Eric Blore was in *Top Hat* with Ginger Rogers.

Ginger Rogers was in *Weekend at the Waldorf* with Walter Pidgeon.

Walter Pidgeon was in *Funny Girl* with Barbra Streisand.

Barbra was in *On A Clear Day You Can See Forever* with Jack Nicholson.

Jack Nicholson was in *5 Easy Pieces* with Karen Black.

next: Frank McHugh to Jayne Mansfield

  5. Leonard Bernstein was Classical Music's Wunderkind for his generation. Ironically he'll be best remembered for a Broadway musical called *West Side Story*. Bernstein's collaborator on this show was Stephen Sondheim.
