Ann Blythe is young enough for your answer--Terrence. The producer of all these successful formula musical/operettas was Joe Pasternak. He started at Universal with Deanna Durbin. He followed that great success story with even greater success at MGM with Mario Lanza, Jane Powell, and Grayson & Keel.
