  1. I would say that there are many horrible days in your life--but most are just boring and mediocre.

It's probably quite normal to have typically bad things happen occasionally as part of life. No one likes that I expect.

I'm exceedingly glad that I had so many bad experiences when I was younger, so that now I'm rather use to the routine. I feel sorry for people who have to wait for middle age to have their lives fall apart. They never quite recover and always feel bitter.

After all, there are no guarantees in life.

  2. The Hollies are one of the few Brit Invasions bands that I still listen to.

My all time favorite was "I Can't Let Go". And "Look through Any Window" a perfect example of how a Brit Invasion band should sound.

George always liked them best--as a group they were so well-meshed.

  3. "Johnny Get Angry" was my ginchiest 45 ever--after I warped it from over-playing I turned it over.

On Joanie Sommers's b/w I found my theme to the 50's--"A Summer Place". She did a marvelous job, but I don't think the Dj's ever played the flip side.

Anyway--Joanie had a terrific voice and was much more talented than "Popcicles".

  4. This always happens to me--Hadn't thought of him in years. Last weekend I bought his TV show, "The People's Choice"--and now he's gone. He was a brilliant child actor/star who fought like hell to be seriously considered as an adult actor. In later years, he worked as a TV executive and director.

My last memory of him is a beautiful role he played as Angela Langsbury brother-in-law on "Murder She Wrote".

  5. There is the history of Walt Disney in Hollywood--Apparently none of the major studios would give him a tumble. He, indeed, became a major studio into himself. Since nearly all of the majors were Jewish owned and operated, could this have affected his opinion.

For sure, the only anti-semitic Film Executive I knew of was Joseph P. Kennedy, the president's father.

  6. We're still looking for Larry Hart's muse--

She was a big Broadway star and her most memorable musical film role was in a Jerome Kern musical.

I'm really "Bewitched, Bothered & Bewildered" why no one has reeled this one in yet.

  7. Tres bien!

I would only add that Gene Kelly's co-director, Stanley Donen, directed *Funny Face*. And he really filmed the movie in Paris--*An American In Paris* was filmed on the backlot at MGM.

Miles, This next one is on you---

  8. C. Bogle--In his day, Walt Disney was considered to be extremely right-winged. Look at the situation with Tommy Kirk--really his biggest child star--groomed for teenage stardom and beyond. So I supposed you could say Disney was prejudiced against Gay People as well.

To get an idea of how extreme Disney was--think back. In the 50's No major studios had problems promoting Rock Hudson or Tab Hunter as big stars and matinee idols. Why then did Disney have to dump Tommy Kirk--really his biggest male star?

  9. This director was noted for some of the grittiest, violent and insanely masculine films made in the '50's and '60's. Ironically he is also responsible for one of the lovely and passionate films made by Hollywood's queen of the soaps, also from the 50's and 60's era. Hint: this actress not only acted the parts, but lived them in real life, as well.

Please name: Director -- 1 of his typical films and the Soap Opera Queen's film--

  10. Please note questions & hints below--

In the way of a review--

She was a great Broadway Star and the muse for Larry Hart. He nearly married her, despite being Gay, and wrote his most famous song for her. Ironically her greatest film role in a musical was written by Jerome Kern.

Star, Rodgers & Hart Song she was famous for and the show it came from.

Hint: This R&H show was also made into a movie.
