Not what I was thinking about --but you still have a correct answer
Fi's turn--
-
Fi--You've never seen "All About Eve"?
-
They all were directed by Billy Wilder--
Bogie--"Sabrina"
Tone--"Five Graves To Cairo"
Lemon--"The Apartment", "Some Like It Hot" etc.
-
Andy Williams' style always reminded me a little bit of this singer. "It Might As Well Be Spring"
Right?
The Great Dick Haymes

THE BAD AND THE BEAUTIFUL
-
Dearie--I haven't seen any men lately at the Mall who look like Troy Donahue. Have you?

Fi, I grew up as a big fan of Connie Stevens and Troy Donahue on WB TV. They were my favorites--kinda like teenage versions of Doris and Rock. It's was a '50's thing.
-
Rick--If it could get any better it'd have to be "Where Love Has Gone" and "Portrait In Black".
Besides Sirk and Daves, this genre has 2 other heroes(Heroines)--Ross Hunter and the Courageous and Beautiful Lana Turner.
-
Miles, you always think right. This next is a song for you from Berlin's "Easter Parade" and sung by Astaire--"Happy Easter!"
Miles is up--
-
Please note prior original question: This dancer/ choreographer worked with both Kelly and Astaire.
-
No takers--These 2 were Executives and Veeps for MGM but their skills would have made Frank Nitti envious.
-
Skipper is back!/Have a Happy Easter!

I think that Delmer Daves was put on Earth to make lucious, juicy, emotional technicolor flicks for chicks like me. The lst month I watched "Parrish", "Susan Slade" and "Rome Adventure" in a row. I've seen "A Summer Place" 10 times.
If it were left to me, they'd be a monument to Delmer Daves on Sunset Boulevard right next to the one I would have already put up for Douglas Sirk, the soap, love technicolor master.
For those not in the know--Sirk gave us: "Written on the Wind", "All That Heaven Allows" and the magnificent "Magnificent Obsession".
Both Daves and Sirk knew what women wanted!
-
Do you want to give us a little hint?
-
Yes--a real MGM noir--, but the women still look very good.
All yours Metz--
-
(I'm) "Shooting the Works for Uncle Sam"-- couldn't wait for the 4th--

This dancer/choreographer is little remembered today except among dancers and film fans. But his legacy and contribution to the musical on Broadway and in film is vast.
He studied Russian Ballet with a Bolshoi Master, taught dance to a future musical movie star, discovered a future musical movie star and choreographed both Broadway and Hollywood musicals. He even directed two films.
Hint: Liza said he directed with his feet.
Can you name him, his proteges and his several of his films?

Please note the prior question
Hint--these were the go-to-guys at MGM for damage control--or should I say felony control.
-
Filter, flavor, flip-top box.
Next: This actress is my favorite film mother. Not maudlin, but warm and rather sophisticated.
She was the mother of Cary Grant and Katharine Hepburn among others. Her ability was so vast that she even portrayed presidential mothers on the stage and on TV.
-
Yes, and I can remember when I stayed home from high school to see in on reruns.
All yours Skipper--
-
In this horror movie, the knighted actress Gladys Cooper is so hot that she actually goes up in flames.
-
Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne were the 1st couple of the Broadway Theatre in the 20th Century. One of their popular plays became the basis for a Golden Era musical that starred Golden Era Movie Stars.
Can you name the musical and its stars?
