  1. No, but this movie is also a French Superstar vehicle-- Hint: The bombing in this French village force several families of different classes to live together. Even the school has been destroyed by bombing, so the children have class in the local cafe.
  2. During the Golden Era--1 teenager didn't act in juvenile parts; she went straight into adult roles at the age of 15. At 16, she played the wife of an actor who was a real-life matinee idol. Actress and Movies?? Edited by: cujas on Mar 30, 2011 7:02 PM

  4. After World War II in France some people were tried as collaborationists by the locally controlled Communist governments--In this film that's the case. Also tension erupts in this war-torn town as those bombed out were boarded with families across the class spectrum.

  18. Actually Ellie was a trained ballet dancer--she studied with the last ballet master of the Tsar. She went into tap to make a living and found out she was great. If you watch her in "Broadway Melody of 1936", she performed ballet on pointe. By the 1950's, she was in her mid-'40's and probably had no interest in reinvention. But since she was considered to be the greatest female tapdancer of her day ( I say greatest male or female), she took it upon herself to show the world that she still had it.

  22. Being an OLD Beatle fan--I stuck with Paul through Ebony and Ivory--then I had to stop throwing away my money. But Monkberry, Too Many People and Admiral Halsey were truly entertaining. But it wasn't until Double Fantasy that I realized how weak paul's stuff was.
