Miss Booth's reputatation on Broadway placed her somewhere between Katharine Cornell and Helen Hayes. She was the actress that the stars went to Broadway to study.
She won 3 Tony Awards and appeared in 30 Broadway plays from 1925 to 1970.

Yes--She and her husband Larry Parks were both blacklisted. I always had the upmost respect for them and how they maintained their dignity, when so many others lost theirs. They both were such tremendously talented people, whose leagcy is their contribution to the American Hollywood musical.

I think The Byrds were way out there, like The Yardbirds in innovation--and politically on target like Buffalo. But being a Brit Invasion fanatic, it's The Hollies music that I still play and find the most personally rewarding. Reportedly, at the time, they were George's favorite.
A particular favorite of mine is "I Can't Say Goodbye"--Linda Ronstadt gave it more than a second wind. But then she had a terrific Brit Invasion of a producer to push her on--Peter Asher.

Reportedly Kelly had Kidd's number cut because 1)he didn't deserve a solo because he wasn't a Movie Star like Dailey and Kelly and 2)--I like this one better-- Kidd was a better dancer than Kelly, being a star soloist for American Ballet Theatre.

The real appeal of Crosby, Stills and Nash for me was not necessarily what they became at Woodstock--but what they had come from. I prefer their orignatination music--with each group absolutely more interesting and historical than the coming together.
