  1. And thanx again M. 6-- This Foreign film classic is morbid--it's all about death. It is situated in the post-World War I era after France had lost a generation of manhood. The film's director stars himself in the film--he made many films and acted, occasionally, in them. But ironically this is his last acting work in his own films because he died several years later.
  2. There are two towns in Kansas that rhyme-- Eureka and Topeka--this is used in 2 movie songs, 1 well-known and 1 not so well known 1st--not well known: (sung to a Latin beat) "But in Topeka, They would say oh gee, One smile and I would shout Eureka" 2nd--too well known to quote from a musical classic Please answer, title of 2 songs, the 2 movies, composers and , of course, performers. 3. I don't think Barbra ever played the gay bath houses of New York like Bette and Barry did.
  4. Funny you should say that--I always thought it was Bette Davis and Judy Garland. Even in death, Joan is trying to steal Bette's admirers.
  5. My dear M. 6, I consider myself to be very well-educated in Modern European Culture, but I admittedly shy away from the "Cabaret" era of German and Austrian culture. Your question is right smack dab in the middle of it, and without a large clue I could not have figured this out. But you obviously have great knowledge of this area and are to be admired for it. My favorite Top 40 record/song is "Mack the Knife"--I'm afraid that's where my culture takes me. You're talking here about Bertolt Brecht's (and of course Kurt Weill's) *3 Penny Opera*--I can't give you the original German name of the musical-opera. The Movie of the same title came out in 1931. I hope my answer is what you're looking for. Monsieur, your mind is astounding! Edited by: cujas on Jan 29, 2011 4:56 PM

  14. This is a real classic from the '40's, associated with radio stars.
  15. I'll save the last one for another time. But if you want to take a quickie guess, go ahead. Otherwise, I'm looking for a play starring Leslie Banks and Dr. Watson on Broadway. And Mr. Banks' claim to cinema immortality.
  16. Thank you Ms. Lavender--but, obviously, I'm not as gifted in perspective as you are. How is has Cindy Brady associated with the Hitchcock thriller: *The Man Who Knew Too Much*? (FYI--the "Que Sera Sera" version)
  17. How about Freddy "Boom Boom" Cannon. I had the record "Palisades Park"--you ever been there? But you're referring to his big hit--an old favorite rocked up--"Way Down Yonder in New Orleans"--really from my Grandmother's time. Edited by: cujas on Jan 29, 2011 3:40 PM
