Well whether or not she is refusing to accept any more awards, she's being given the Legend award tonite in Beverly Hills. She's not there of course but still, I think it's pretty neat.

If Facebook can put Betty White on SNL then Doris Day can finally get her long overdue golden statuette.
If you haven't already heard, there is a Facebook group campaigning for an Honorary Oscar for Doris Day. Link below-
There you can meet other Doris fans and there is also contact information provided for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences so that you may put in your suggestion, or rather declaration (haha) for Doris and the golden man.
I'm amazed that this woman has never received an Oscar. She is a legend and still ranks as the #1 top ranking female box office star....and after 50 years no less! In the words of Roger Ebert via Twitter, "Why the *hell* doesn't Doris Day have an Honorary Oscar?" See, Roger Ebert knows what's up!
So, I'm asking you...join the group, tell your friends, and get the word out and most importantly drop a line at the Academy to politely prod them in the right direction!!

Honorary Oscar Campaign for Doris Day

Did any of you listen to her radio call in on her birthday this year? You can find them on Youtube but she sounds like she is in good health...sounds the same and definitely not feeble or anything. I don't think she's going anywhere any time soon.
Anyways, my problem with the Academy is that they seem to have a giant bias towards comedic movies and actors. It always seems like they prefer to honor actors and films that are from the more dramatic side. And seeing as a fair amount of Doris' films where comedies/ romantic comedies, she has that working against her. I agree with johnm_001- what does it matter whether or not she wants to accept it? She doesn't need to show up but my word, you know she'd have a 30 minute standing ovation lol, and after Clint or whoever gave it to her she could throw it in the trash for all I care. But at some point it would be nice to see 'Doris Day' and 'receives Oscar' in the same sentence.
