    {font:Times New Roman} {font}{font:Calibri}Lz too? Ouch! Thank you, rohanaka, for that piece of news.{font}

    {font:Times New Roman} {font}{font:Calibri}Lynn, what I told Meg goes for you as well. I value your insights and information especially when it corrects my misinformation. I hope that you and your husband have a wonderful birthday and a lot more besides. {font}

    {font:Calibri}Meg: My computer won’t let me be as creative as others have been but this is from the heart-Happy Birthday! May this be the best one yet and the first of many more! I’m glad to know you and will be thinking of you today. {font}

    {font:Times New Roman} {font}{font:}{color:black}This is getting as good as *The Big Country* discussion in the Western Rambles thread. Thank you all for your comments. I love this movie and you are bringing new dimension to it. I'll appreciate it more the next time I see it.{font}

    {font:Times New Roman} {font}{font:}{color:black}Just keep it coming, Kids! I love this movie and you all are saying it so much better than I could. {font}

    {font:Times New Roman} {font}{font:}{color:black}The finality of the situation is that both the old men are dead by each other's hands and Buck is dead by Rufus'. Steve, who was in love with Pat but sees her selfishness, might or might not stay on. If he does it's out of love for Mr. Terrill. If Pat has any sense, she'll grab him and be a good wife but I think Steve deserves better. If he goes the ranch's days seem numbered and Pat ends up like Luz Benedict in *Giant*. Jim and Julie will marry and make a ranch of Big Muddy bringing peace and water to all. Fair play wins this one but at a high price.{font}

    {font:Times New Roman} {font}{font:}{color:black}Thank you for *30 Seconds Over Tokyo* Saturday night. This is on a par with *Battleground* as one of the most realistic war films ever made. {font}

    {font:Times New Roman} {font}{font:}{color:black}I'm not a Van Johnson fan but he was so good here. When I first saw this as a child the "big star" for me was Don Defore who played the Nelson's neighbor, Thorny, on *Ozzie and Harriet*. I came to know the rest, especially Robert Mitchum, later on. {font}

    {font:Times New Roman} {font}{font:}{color:black}I liked how the Chinese people were portrayed so humanly and we saw what Japan had done to them as well as us. Then they got the Commies. Let's hope they get a break of freedom soon.{font}

    {font:Times New Roman} {font}{font:}{color:black}This must have been a real morale booster for soldiers and civilians that year. Damn good movie!{font}

    {font:Times New Roman} {font}{font:}{color:black}I can't believe Ernest Borgnine was married to two women with the same birthday. Since neither of them worked out he must have caught on and quit. {font}

    {font:Times New Roman} {font}{font:}{color:black}John Hamilton and Harry Carey-now there's a great combination. Hamilton must have died right at the end of *Superman* or soon after. I can hear "Don't call me chief!" as I write this.{font}

    {font:}I just found this thread and must tell kingrat to see *One Potato, Two Potato* any way you can. I don’t know if it was based on a real story but 20 years later in Texas there was a similar case that unbelievably ended the same way. I remember being so steamed watching the movie and reminding myself that’s what it was. {font}

    {font:} {font}*{font:}Sayonara{font}*{font:} is a favorite film of mine and I knew a couple like Lloyd and Miko back in the 70’s. They had a very happy marriage and beautiful children. It’s what’s inside, folks.{font}

    {font:} {font}{font:}I’ve asked before if *White Feather* was really based on truth as claimed as in the end the couple’s son ends up at West Point. If so, it’s really inspiring.{font}

    {font:} {font}{font:}Despite his changing political views, Charlton Heston was always proud of the interracial storyline in *The Omega Man *and his part in it. {font}

    {font:}The line from *Bird of Paradise* about birth before marriage is something I read in my college anthropology and sociology classes so there’s truth to it. Some cultures’ moral codes just don’t match ours. At least these couples marry which is more than a lot of “baby mommies and daddies” are doing in our society.{font}

    {font:} {font}{font:}The **** says I’m supposed to be upset by all this but I got past that long ago and am proud to say very easily. If the yellow and grey tabby cats in the courtyard downstairs can get along why can’t we humans? Or does the right species have dominion over the universe? {font}

    {font:Times New Roman} {font}{font:}{color:black}If you go to the Films & Filmmakers Forum and click the Candids 2 Thread, there's a beautiful color photo of Kay for today. It's the first one of her I've ever seen in color.{font}

    {font:Times New Roman} {font}{font:}{color:black}Feyda: *Quincy* was a favorite show of mine and I loved that opening. For an "old Man" he certainly got around.{font}

    {font:Times New Roman} {font}{font:}{color:black}Jake: That *Boots* scene is so heartbreaking and real. Not only did the real Custers deeply love each other but Olivia de Havilland has said she sensed that this was going to be the last scene she would ever do with Errol Flynn and that was very overwhelming. That faint would seem realistic in either case.{font}

    {font:Times New Roman} {font}{font:}{color:black}I had it happen the first time I gave blood. I was light headed and nauseous afterward. I must have looked as badly as I felt because a friend had me breathe deep and put my head in my lap. It didn't work and I went out. The scare came when I came to; I had about five minutes of total amnesia then total embarrassment. It got easier with experience-I mean donating. {font}

  10. {font:Times New Roman}{font:}{color:black}Judith Light won 2 Emmys for* One Life to Live *and her courtroom scene was chosen by TV Guide as one of the 100 greatest performances in TV history. Not only this show but most of the rest gave many stars their first exposure to audiences and let many others extend their careers and get deserved recognition. The Tony nominations seemed to include at least one soap actor for their stage work each year until recently which was why I'd watch the ceremony hoping they'd win. {font}

    {font:}{color:black}You bet this is a relevant thread! A lot of New York folks in the industry are getting pushed out of work and with the collapse of nearly all of the *Law & Order* franchises this does not bode well for them. Thanks, folks, for all you've done. {font}

    {font:Times New Roman} {font}*{font:}{color:black}Ride to Hangman's Tree{font}*{font:}{color:black} is on Encore rotation now. I've not yet seen it and didn't know it was a remake of *Black Bart*. It's now on my "must see" list. Thank you, Errol, for the information.{font}

    {font:Times New Roman} {font}{font:}{color:black}What have we done to deserve today? All Westerns all day! Wow!{font}

    {font:Times New Roman} {font}{font:}{color:black}I've never seen *Arrow in the Dust* but liked it a lot. *Drum Beat* is a favorite as is *Springfield Rifle*. Maultin's got it wrong; *Rifle* is far from unmemorable and Cooper is great in it. Bronson nearly steals *Drum Beat*; this was back when he was an actor and before he became a "star" leaving acting behind.{font}

    {font:Times New Roman} {font}{font:}{color:black}Clint Walker has always said Cooper was his idol. He got to play Cooper's role when they based a *Cheyenne* episode on *Rifle* and did pretty well in his own feature films this morning. Yipees all around! {font}

    {font:Times New Roman} {font:}{color:black}Paul Mantee's photo looks like it came from *Robinson Caruso on Mars*. If so, it's too bad his adorable co-star, Mona the Monkey, wasn’t included. I still think this is the most underrated si-fi movie ever made.{font}{font}

    {font:}{color:black}Mr. Mantee is also a very talented writer whose work I have read in various entertainment publications. Perhaps he's not famous enough to write a book but I'd read it. Glad he's still around.{font}

    {font:Times New Roman} {font}{font:}{color:black}Jack and Meg: Holy cow, I really started something didn't I? Thanks for letting me return the favors you've done me with your postings. My body and mind caved in from three weeks of packing and settling in and the glass door accident and I was pretty low yesterday. The movie and your reactions are really perking me up. I really do like it here. {font}

    {font:Times New Roman} {font}{font:}{color:black}You are so right about Lurene Tuttle; she does deserve her day on TCM. She played so many varied roles in film and TV which is where I first became aware of her. (She also gave us daughter Barbara Ruick). Here she was always believable in a wide range of emotions from "turn him in; we need the money" to "what have I done" to "forgive me". I hope they did. {font}

    {font:Times New Roman} {font}{font:}{color:black}I'm getting caught up on *The Tudors* episodes I've missed last month today. See you when I get back from Medieval England{font}

    Most of his work was done before special effects became the lead character in most films. Painting over glass, inventive use of color and other things got the job done and more realistically than IL&M and its computers. From what I saw his Oscar nominations and wins were well deserved. I want to see this documentary again as you can't take it all in with one viewing.

    Regarding: *Tomorrow is Another Day*

    I posted my comments about this film on Rambles II before I saw this thread. I'd been waiting so long to see it and just fell for it all over again. She was definitely not blonde material and I was glad when the real Ruth emerged. I thought she went from hardnosed tough girl to loving wife very believably; it would have been nice to see her do more movies with Steve Cochran. This one stayed with me since the early 60's and was worth the wait.

    {font:Times New Roman} {font}{font:}{color:black}First off *Move Over, Darling* was a remake of *My Favorite Wife*. It was originally titled *Something's Gotta Give* and the footage of that scrapped Marilyn Monroe/Dean Martin version was put together and shown on AMC just before *Darling* was. From what I saw it would have been pretty good although it's hard to top the Garner/Day/Bergen version.{font}

    {font:Times New Roman} {font}{font:}{color:black}I've heard of Ruth Chatterton for years but had only seen her in *Dodsworth*. This was a revelation; the woman was just mesmerizing. No redeeming social qualities indeed. What an ending! Thank you for the clips. {font}

    {font:Times New Roman} {font}{font:}{color:black}This has not been one of my better days but TCM has made it a lot better. For the record walking into a glass window is not as funny as it looks. Fortunately my nose got the worst of it as I can’t afford to replace the library window. We both seem to have come out of it okay. Beware! {font}

  18.

    {font:Times New Roman} {font}{font:}{color:black}This was our Friday night dinner when I was a child only Mom used four cans of tuna rather than hamburger meat. This Catholic version went down pretty well too. We'd go to the grocery store afterwards, put it all in the fridge or pantry then split a half-gallon of Neapolitan ice cream five ways and watch *The Lineup* on CBS. It's one of the few happy family memories I have. The added mushrooms are a nice extra; a few breadcrumbs on top are too. You can use 2 cups of chicken, turkey or ham as well and substitute cream of chicken, celery or broccoli or cheddar cheese soup. Slop it is not!{font}

    {font:Times New Roman} {font}

  19. {font:Times New Roman} {font}

    {font:}{color:black}What a nice surprise this morning! *Tomorrow is Another Day* is the movie I was thinking of when we discussed Steve Cochran on another thread but couldn't remember the title of. It's been over 50 years since I'd seen it and it was still great. The details weren't exactly as I'd remembered so it was almost like seeing a new film but the love story was still there. That's why I liked it; even social misfits like them could fall in love and make it work. Cochran and Ruth Roman made a great couple. Thank you TCM; that's why my cable bill's worth paying.{font}

    {font:Times New Roman} {font}{font:}{color:black}Like last year I am utterly blown away by how glamorous and beautiful the young Jane Wyman was as opposed to that prim and proper older woman from her 50's films and TV series. Daughter Maureen wasn't the only one who could have qualified for Miss America.{font}

    {font:Times New Roman} {font}{font:}{color:black}Also the Sterling Holloway photo was just marvelous. I adored him as a child probably because he usually seemed so childlike himself. Thank you so much. {font}

    {font:}{color:black}I made it through all of last night/this morning and finally saw The Howling Man. It was worth the wait. I also saw one of my favorites, Long Live Walter Jameson. This took my mind off my troubles and while I’m feeling a bit punchy after a day of shopping for new apartment necessities and no sleep I’m glad I did it. It was a touch of familiarity that I needed. {font}

    {font:}{color:black}I've been so wrapped up in moving and personal problems that I forgot about this and I never miss it. There are still enough of the episodes’ I love to catch today. That you for the posting or I would have missed it all together.{font}

    {font:Times New Roman} {font}

    {font:}{color:black}I'm in a strange place right now. I'm living that Michael MacDonald/Patti Labelle song, On My Own, right now which I'm certain many of you have as well. I know it was the best thing for us both right now but it still hurts. This marathon, my Church and the Board are real comfort food right now. I haven't been able to post much lately but maybe now my jucies will start flowing. {font}
