I think now I remember The Tiffany when you said Sunset Strip. There was a Theater further east called The Oriental. As I recall The Vagabond was something else. They would have a double bill Thin Man. I think of the Bing Tuesday's matinees as The Vagabond's successor.

The description is in the ballpark but it's set in the late 80s or 90s. and the couple who are trying the con are in their 20s. Thanks - This looks like a good one to rent.
