  1. Where have I been? Just read about this tonight that he died on Wednesday. Always loved his appearances.
  2. Always fixing what wasn't broken...or at least it used to be quick to fix the bugs. Ah well, at least we CAN see messages and comments but there's a lot of routing around. The schedule is working fine though that I can tell. Thanks for the info and hope it gets better.
  3. Seriously, that's how the boards are going to keep operating? Plus whatever you try to click within those blank brackets they all freeze on the current day's date. Wow, what a mess!
  4. I don't know if this has been posted already but why are the page numbers between the brackets not showing up? Thank you. Edited by: TheCheckMate on Aug 26, 2013 7:42 PM Edited by: TheCheckMate on Aug 26, 2013 7:43 PM
  5. Ah shoot! These premieres almost all occurred during the day. Must.check.days.more.often.
  6. Always interesting to hear what he has to say. He's been a fun host.
  7. > {quote:title=finance wrote:}{quote} > What do you expect from me? It's been at least 5 days since I saw the film. But you weren't under the stress of being questioned by the police for murder.
  8. My word, Maureen O'Sullivan is stunningly beautiful in this one.
  9. Yes, but he mistakenly called her The "Incredible" Mrs. Bainbridge. :-))
  10. TCMWebAdmin, Pray tell what happened to the Canadian Saturday schedule? Whole blocks missing.
  11. TCM ran Arthur Penn and Tony Curtis concurrently for a spell.
  12. Coincidentally, there's an employee pick of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf tonight. Of course, these segments are pretaped but I wonder if they'll inject something related to her death before the movie is shown.. Edited by: TheCheckMate on Mar 24, 2011 9:48 PM
  13. Finally the little icons on the top left corner are popping up singularly now. Recently they'd been piling up on top of each other looking like a demented ink blot.
  14. Canadian page does not load and that lineup is oftentimes different such as tonight, March 14th.
  15. Boy that Robert Osborne really gets around. Wasn't anyone surprised to hear he was on the set of .....Baby Jane?
  16. > Hi, CheckMate > > I thought this was very well done. All the different responses give us as much insight into the individuals making the judgements as it does about Jack (Rod Taylor). > > I really like the scenario with Dorothy Malone, how it seemed to her and how it really was. 'Tis true MissGoddess. For the most part they had a favourable opinion. Nothing wrong with being a good old boy once in a while if it means you're also dedicated when it matters. I like how the movie allowed those shadings.
  17. **possible spoilers** Interesting in watching how the pilot's acquaintances each interpreted his character and credentials and how that was playing out in Sam's (Glenn Ford) mind. Good movie.
  18. When I read someone complaining that there's too many movies showing of a particular actor/actress when they are Star of the Month, I wonder if they realize that such a feature exists.
  19. What to choose! What to choose! Classic DVD's are starting to be the main item in my house.
  20. Wow! re: Chico. Can hardly believe it.
  21. > {quote:title=JefCostello wrote:}{quote} > Wow, I never thought I'd see film lovers attacking the 70's. > > One of the greatest decades ever for films. The last great decade for films, actually. Amen. Could never figure out the hate for that decade here because any derision in the past usually went unchallenged so just thought it wasn't anyone's cup of tea. For some, it was a great time for movie going and you just expected to be riveted and/or disturbed much of the time. In Biskin's book, if I recall correctly, he points out that the studios had lost their way after audiences were responding to a new kind of cinema; one inspired by the New Wave and European influences. As a result, new and fresh filmmakers were given free reign to make the kind of movies that excited them and, in turn, spoke to audiences of the time. Not to say there wasn't a fair share of dreck as well.
  22. Has to be Hollywood's best 'coming home' type movie ever. It's surprising that it was released in 1946 considering it embodies the same kind of nostalgia we've attributed to that time period from then on. I wonder if a lot of the post-war changes had started to happen prior to 1945.
  23. Messages not going through today so this one probaby won't either. I can't delete my reposting since the message doesn't come up for me to do so.
