Sub-titles and audio descriptions?! Anyone else seeing this?
SansFin replied to Bertman316's topic in General Discussions
There are several threads of this now. Some person at Time-Warner Cable pushed the wrong button and so the alternate audio is on all of the time for every subscriber. I have read that they are aware of the problem and are working to correct it. -
They would have to include: How to Steal a Million (1966) because it is iconic Audrey in Paris. I believe they could have a complete month in which each day is movies set in specific cities: Paris, London, Rome, Tokyo, Madrid, Berlin, Hong Kong, L.A., San Francisco, NYC, Honolulu, Omaha, Chicago, and etc..

This is one of my all-time favorite movies! It is excellent on many levels. It is two very strong personalities dealing with the weakness of falling in love and having to work very hard to maintain their personas. I love in particular that it did not wimp-out with Hollywood ending. Each stayed true to their persona despite being deeply in love. The ending is such a surprise because there seems to be two options but they did a third we did not suspect. It is perfection! I do think it is biggest mistake that any woman could ever make would be to have priorities other than running away with Steve McQueen and millions of dollars cash. I like this very much. It is based on I. Asimov story. The graphics are amazing for the era. Ina Claire is a delight in this and Joan Blondell is at her best. I like this very much for a number of reasons. I see great faults in it but the whole overcomes them. I believe the removal of cutesy items and a stronger lead would have made it wonderful movie. I find this a wonderful movie! It may be a little longer than need be but the character interactions are quite powerful. The cast is perfect in their roles. I like this very much. Performances are very powerful.

I do hope this is corrected soon. There is a movie next week which I which to record to keep and it would be ruined if narration is present.

This is a very wonderful tribute to him. I am sorry that they did not find room for: The Mystery of the Leaping Fish (1916). It stars him as Sherlock-Holmes-type detective investigating smuggling ring. Bessie Love is his co-star. It is available for viewing on YouTube at:

This occurred this morning for us also. We have Time-Warner Cable. It was present despite: Second Audio Program, Descriptive Service and Alternate Audio Track were off on cable box, DVR and television. It was present on second DVR also which is attached directly to cable.

I feel it is wonderful movie with excellent balance of humor, drama and surrealism. I must say despite this that I fear that few here will appreciate it in full because it is so very much of its culture. It pivots on dichotomy of old and new and most people in West have superficial only understanding of it. It is for that reason that I can not give whole-hearted recommendation. I fear that you may be disappointed.

I feel that: Сны/Sny/Dreams (1993) leaves major question unanswered. It is of Nineteenth Century countess who dreams she is Twentieth Century canteen worker. There are points which show connection to the future is real but nature of how/why it occurred is not explained. It is available in Mosfilm channel on YouTube at: http://youtu.be/Znnr111WFME Subtitles are available by using: Closed Captioning. I like it even although that was not source of meaning I wished to express.

I am reasonably confident that you will like it. I find it to be great good fun. It begins slowly and then becomes a romp.

I find that: Gert Fröbe in: Triple Cross (1966) carries the role of policeman-turned-Nazi-Colonel wonderfully. He is stolid with slowly developing wry smile when appropriate. I believe that no portrayal of Nazi is more handsome or more sophisticated than: Yul Brynner in same movie.

The schedule is available now as full month: http://www.tcm.com/schedule/monthly.html?tz=est&sdate=2016-02-01

We have Time-Warner Cable. Last of the Mobile Hot-Shots (1970) is last movie on on-screen schedule. It is: "Turner Classic Movies" for all times after that. I must wonder if complete change of schedule to honor: Maureen O'Hara caused glitch.

I hope that no person gives undue weight to my concern as it is very likely that I will not have time to create schedule for this Challenge. It seems that each one requires more time to compile than previous one and my schedule is insane until well into next year.
-
My concern with this approach is that Challenges are held several times each year and so continuing such practice would soon have us creating schedules meant for more than a decade in the future. It is your Challenge and I do not wish to sway your decisions. I simply wondered if those dates were by intent or by typing error.
-
I am sorry to be a bother but I must wonder if that is typographical error or if you mean for schedules to be minimum of eighteen months in the future.

George Carey: You be careful, madam, or you'll turn my pretty head with your flattery. Kay Wilson: I often wished I could turn your head - on a spit, over a slow fire. I Love You Again (1940)

It was in rotation on TCM recently. It is not now on schedule for next few months but there is hope that it will appear on more time in first part of next year.

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 10, 2015 I Love You Again (1940) - This is very much like: Love Crazy (1941) but has quirky premise which I like very much. The Last of Mrs. Cheyney (1929) - I love Basil Rathbone as romantic leading man. -
The Divorce Of Lady X (1938) La mujer X (1931) and (1955) The Mystery Of Mr. X (1934) Squadron Leader X (1943) X-15 (1961)

There is no: "I" in: "team" but there is: "ta, me" if you shake the letters around. I must wonder if Challenges will concern sports, 1992, cities or crazy people operating dangerous facilities. Will you be disclosing in advance number of premieres which we can use or any other details?
