I am not cheap but I can be bought. I freely share the information in our database when and where I can. I have done that in this thread as well as several times in the past. What I will do not freely is spend hours searching through individual schedules for information when the person who wants it has injected their crusade into several threads and steadfastly maintains a "I want what I want when and where I want it and alternatives are not acceptable" attitude. I have not kept track of the numbering of the "rules of the board" proffered by others but one must be: "expect even simple threads to be taken off-topic". I welcome again MerryPickford to the board and I hope they enjoy TCM's eclectic mixture of genres and eras. -

> {quote:title=Stephan55 wrote:}{quote}Mike00, > perhaps SansFin or someone else can come up with the precise viewing times, if you require that information... I try very hard to help those needing relevant information about previous airings of movies as far as I am able using a database we have created of movies scheduled by TCM. I am limited in that we lack access to most schedules older than August of 2005. I am limited also in that our database is only for a listing of movies and we neither compile nor maintain information regarding time, date or frequency. I was able to provide the list I posted by a simple search of our database. I did so in hopes that it will give hope to the original poster that they might see those films on TCM in the future because being on a previous schedule indicates that the film is available for airing by TCM and there are no overt problems of format, rights or other issues which prevent some movies from being shown. To provide exact information regarding when a particular movie was last scheduled would require searching individual months' schedules. I have done that in the past when a poster has asked for the information for a reasonable purpose. I am happy to help when and where I am able. I see no point to doing that in this case. There is no obvious rotation of movies which could be used to predict when a movie might air in the future based on when it last aired. The length of time since the last airing could not be used as a basis for a reasonable appeal to the programmers to schedule them again because they are so very far out of the mainstream of TCM's content and purpose and they will surely air only as part of special themes or promotions for many years to come. I would be willing to perform a search of the schedules to find exact dates and times at which the movies in question were scheduled but I doubt that any person who will not buy a few cheap DVDs from Wal-Mart would be willing to pay the fair rate for such work. -

How does a 99 minute movie fit into a 90 minute slot?

I believe it takes a great deal of imagination and hard work to create a schedule with the limitations that the movies must have a connection to an Oscar, must have been converted by the copyright owner into digital format, must be available at a reasonable cost and should not be ones which are aired with great frequency. I admit I am not as thrilled with the schedule as I am with the December and January schedules but I feel it is a solid schedule in a good format and the programmers are to be thanked and congratulated for their efforts.

Sitting on it are three things much like large cardboard boxes with the top and back missing to make a little cubical. They are white and have a flag insignia on the sides and front. He said there are pens and instructions of how to fill in the boxes inside it. It is such a small ward that two precinct voting stations are present in the same gymnasium. There was only one other person voting in the precinct when we entered and two more were entering as we left. The news is reporting that local turnout is very heavy this year.

We have returned from the voting station. Capuchin offered to let me mark his ballot since we are alike in our thinking. I believe he wanted only to get me into a booth. It is sad to say there were no booths. There were cardboard partitions between places at a long table and I had to stay behind a line on the floor away from those who were voting. It is a strange feeling for me to not vote.

It is far past time when I can alter or delete the contents of my previous post. I can only take this moment to rescind it. I understand that some people are not at all times comfortable with foreign movies, some people do not like watching movies on YouTube and that most people do not share my particular tastes or sense of humor. I had hoped in spite of those circumstances to awaken at least a little curiosity in a few people. I did not mean for such a long-active and lively thread to be brought to such a screeching halt because people are reluctant to post after what I presented.

I wish a warm welcome for you. I fear you will not find Martin Scorsese movies airing often as they are modern. The only ones which are in my database of movies in recent TCM schedules are: *The Age of Innocence* (1993) *Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore* (1974) *Boxcar Bertha* (1972) *Goodfellas* (1990) *Italianamerican* (1974) *The King of Comedy* (1983) *Kundun* (1997) *The Last Waltz* (1978) *Mean Streets* (1973) *New York, New York* (1977) *Raging Bull* (1980) *Taxi Driver* (1976) -

> {quote:title=BigFaceSmallRazor wrote:}{quote} > And you've never heard Britney Spears? Please allow me to introduce you. Carole King she ain't but in the late 90's, possibly the biggest thing since the Beatles. I thank you for the link. I have heard the song at some time but did not know the name of the singer and so did not know to associate it with her. My knowledge of American pop singers is lacking greatly because I do not like how they are homogenized. I prefer pop singers with texture such as VarVara: The song is Katyusha Pears and apples blossomed on their branches. River mist was spreading high and wide. On the steep and lofty bank at morning Katy came walking by the riverside. Katy came walking, singing in the morning Of a brave gray eagle of the steppes, Of a man she'd come to call beloved Of a man whose letters she had kept. Darling song, song of a loving maiden, Following the sun fly high and straight Toward a soldier far out on the border Bringing greetings from yours truly Katy. Bid him then recall a simple woman, Bid him hear her voice in every verse, Bid him with his life guard mother Russia, And his Katy shall guard their love with hers. Pears and apples blossomed on their branches. River mist was spreading high and wide. On the steep and lofty bank at morning Katy came walking by the riverside.

It is quite common for people to not notice things which are outside of their purpose. Such effects have been studied by psychologists:

> {quote:title=Mike00 wrote:}{quote} > I was very shocked when I scrolled dow the list and saw that The Deer Hunter will air on February 8th. February is known because of the traditional Oscar tribute to be a month of recent movies which most people feel are not truly appropriate for TCM. It is a time most use as a chance to catch up on the movies they have recorded in December and January which they did not have time to watch because those months often have many more movies than most people have time to watch when they air.

I see it on the schedule on site and on my TV guide. I believe it is not in the middle. The change in time due to setting the clocks back make it appear the previous movie has a much shorter time slot than is real. -
I do not know the name of this type of music:

I hope all remember to watch: *The Saint In New York* (1938) this morning. I believe it is the first movie of the series and it is of a much stronger flavor than those which followed. It has Louis Hayward as a much more hard-bitten, cynical and pragmatic Simon Templar than George Sanders' portrayals. I hope also that all will watch: *The Divorce Of Lady X* (1938) tonight. It is not an important and socially significant movie which will raise your awareness of deeply troubling moral issues. It is a fun romp with the usually stoic and powerful Laurence Olivier as a befuddled mess because of the intrusion of a mere wisp of a girl into his life. The wonderful performances by Merle Oberon, Binnie Barnes, Ralph Richardson and Morton Selten add greatly to the fun. -
> {quote:title=clore wrote:}{quote} > What did he expect, a hanged man to have a neck in mint condition? Consistency in breaking the neck during hanging is a fairly recent development. Most deaths by hanging were the result of strangulation which is what made it a particularly cruel, frightening and spectacular death. The guillotine was invented to correct the perceived deficiencies in both beheading by ax and by hanging in that it assured quick death. There are reports that even after the calculations of weight and length of drop were standardized so as to provide a clean break of the neck many executioners refused to use them because they felt it was in God's hands to either show mercy or make the criminal suffer. I do not have actual statistics at hand to cite but it is my impression that until the late Eighteenth Century a hanging had approx. a one-in-twenty chance of breaking the neck.
