  1. I became slightly familiar with her while transferring my insignificant one-tenth's VHS tapes to DVDs. She seemed to be quite popular during late-movie hours. I believe it may be that for some movies near to one-fourth of all commercials which I deleted were of her.
  2. FRIDAY, JULY 29, 2016 The Male Animal (1942) I like the juxtaposition of light screwball comedy and a very serious subject. I love: Henry Fonda as intelligent buffoon.
  3. She gained a measure of fame in late: 1990s and early: 2000s as: "Miss Cleo." She was spokesperson for a psychic hotline and was self-professed shaman. I must wonder if she saw it coming.
  4. I believe there is not sufficient eye bleach in the world.
  5. I feel that the most obvious is: Reddit. It has the greatest variety possible because users can create new boards for specialized interests. It is very much a moving finger because on many boards it is that a post which does not receive a replies and upvotes will sink out of sight within a dozen minutes. I do not know how many thousands of boards it has. I am sad to say that I have not found one for classic movies. I would be very lost if I could not access: Imgur. A thread is created by posting an image. Comments range from sublime to obscene to ridiculous. It uses the: "140 characters" rule for replies but it is common to see a reply cut into several sections. Images posted explore entire gamut of existence. A .gif of a kitten stretching its toes might be near a disassembled fork from a Triumph which is near a political-discourse parody. There is no moderation for language. There is supposed moderation for nudity but it often requires hours for 'offending' posts to be removed. The site is quite active and so a thread which does not receive immediate upvotes quickly sinks from sight. I do not know at this moment what I might choose for third website.
  6. I have four bookmarks for this forum. Each is for one of boards which I regularly visit. I find it much faster and easier than using the site menu.
  7. I truly am a nice person. Some of the time. I mean I probably could be if I tried. Maybe.
  8. I thank you for your kind wishes.
  9. It has been very much but it is: Capuchin who made it possible. I had long thought to emigrate to: America but my education/training/credentials would not transfer directly and so I would have had to find some form of employment which allowed much free time and I would have had to pay for schooling. It was that employment which he gave me was very casual and that I could draw on his credit that allowed me to accomplish what little I have. To move and to go to school and then to find work are all common things here. That type of freedom and opportunity should be treasured.
  10. I feel that it is noteworthy even although you do not feel it is worthy of congratulations! That you have inflicted shared your thoughts with us many thousands of times clearly demonstrates evil intent camaraderie.
  11. I have heard this matter discussed in relation to other science fiction/apocalypse stories/movies. It is only when a gas/plague/radiation causes instant death that bodies will be scattered through the landscape. Those things which cause dying slowly will allow time for people to go to specialized areas either to seek treatment or because of forced evacuation. It is natural for a person to seek shelter when they are ill. It has sadly been a long time since I have watched this movie but I do not recall scenes within hospital or in bedrooms of private homes. I believe that is where vast majority of bodies would be located.
  12. I am sorry for your loss. I do hope that you are considering allowing a kitten to adopt you so that you will have four again. It is my understanding that three is not a good number for cats because there may be times when two will gang-up on one. It is more likely to be two-against-two when you have four cats. Your comment led me to re-read my original post in full. It is strange indeed to think it has been four years. I should perhaps provide update re: my time since that post. I finished all course-work and necessary programs to receive degree and licenses necessary for employment. I waited out my five years and applied for citizenship through naturalization and was accepted and so am now proudly: U. S. citizen. My perfidious friend/employer/fiance finally married me in most scheming and devious manner possible. I have been accepted for: Master's Program and have begun first stages of necessary research.
  13. I thank you for your kind words. I have noticed that my writing is much more correct in many ways when I am either: analytical or: angry. I believe this is because I then focus on presentation of the words so that they will have the best effect. It is when I am being: casual and: friendly that my word order and use of articles gang aft a-gley.
  14. To recast the sentence might result in: "found this forum recently." I believe that you can blame my use of: "of recent" on my early studies of reading: English included:18th and 19th Century novels and: English translations of: Japanese translations of: French novels.
  15. I have been eight years here and I am much worse with such details than when I began! I have many contradictions. I use: 'a,' 'an,' 'the' and 'is' and other such needless words when speaking because I learned to speak: English by imitating movies and recordings. The: 'voice in my head' when writing: English is more attached to proper vocabulary which does not have such words. I humbly suggest that you not attempt to force changes upon me. I do not play well with authority figures.
  16. I believe that squirrels are classified also as rodents. They can be quite loyal and willing to fight for the greater good.
  17. I believe that there is possibility that you are unique here in doing that because some posters have their feet firmly on the ground while others are such air-heads that they would not need balloon.
  18. THURSDAY, JULY 21, 2016 The Prisoner of Zenda (1937) This is the excellent version starring: Ronald Colman. Queen Christina (1933)
  19. I am resurrecting this thread because: EugeniaH's excellent thread re: why we are on this site made me think of how many posters have found this forum of recent. My original post in this thread stated: we share much in our posts but it is always in bits and dabs here and there so it is difficult at times to assemble a complete image of our fellow posters. That this is true is evidenced by the fact that it happens often that a person will mistake the gender of a poster with whom they have discussed many things. Some posters have introduced themself when first coming to this forum but it is nearly always very bare-bones and hesitant as they feel they are coming into a group of strangers. I can not and will not ask nor expect any other person to provide information about themself and I surely will reveal no secrets about myself but I think it may be handy to have a single place with as much information as some posters are willing to share. Some wonderful posters shared their history. I resurrect this thread so that more recent arrivals might have a place to share with us.
  20. I was forced by employer. A friend made arrangements for me to come to this country. He then became my employer. I was once quite fluent in speaking: English and I regained the art quickly so there were few misunderstandings. I was competent in reading: English and often read plays and books in: English and so adapted well to doing it full-time. I was minimal at writing: English when taught it and had no cause to practice it in many decades. My employer found that I was avoiding writing in: English and so demanded that I join this forum so that I would have need to write each day. It was his belief that I would become better by having such practice. He choose this forum because watching movies has at all times been significant part of my life.
  21. You press: "Alt" key while entering number associated with symbol you wish to insert. Common ones are shown here: http://i.imgur.com/Sff8hl5.jpg
  22. THURSDAY, JULY 14, 2016 I have been told that: The Stepford Wives (1975) earned the: Good Housekeeping™ Seal of Approval. I like the movie. I find it a gentle horror story.
  23. This calls to my mind my insignificant other's favorite example re: sexual inequality: "A woman can put on jeans, hiking boots, and a flannel shirt and go anywhere without anyone noticing. But if a man, just once, makes a fast trip to the grocery store while wearing his blue chiffon, he's marked for life." I believe that: Marlene Dietrich is prime example of woman rocking men's clothes. She was dressed as man in much of: The Ship of Lost Men (1929). She made sensation also in: 1932 by being seen and photographed in tuxedo: "Marlene Dietrich certainly started something when she appeared at the opening of The Sign of the Cross, wearing a masculine tuxedo, wing collar, soft felt hat, mannish topcoat, and a pair of mannish patent leather shoes!" http://glamourdaze.com/2014/06/1930s-fashion-the-year-of-wearing-trousers-1932.html Greta Garbo wore also men's clothing much in: Queen Christina (1933)
  24. TUESDAY, JULY 12, 2016 There Was a Crooked Man (1970) The genre of: Western is not to my taste. This means that I like a movie within that genre only when it is special in some way. I find this one quite special in many ways. Kirk Douglas is very precious in this role. Henry Fonda is quite wonderful also. I love the story and how it unfolds.
  25. I agree completely! I love very much: Ronald Colman in the lead. I find: Basil Rathbone perfect as powerful but oft befuddled king.
