So gnomes are good and fairies are bad?
Gnomes typically are placed in gardens to protect it. They are genial but viciously defend their home.
It is homeless ones which become evil because they have no soft earth and healthy roots in which to nest.

The Dying Fisherman's Song'Twas midnight on the ocean,Not a streetcar was in sight,The sun was shining brightlyFor it rained all day that night.'Twas a summer's day in winterThe rain was snowing fast,As a barefoot boy with shoes on,Stood sitting on the grass.'Twas evening and the rising sunWas setting in the west; And all the fishes in the treesWere cuddled in their nests. The rain was pouring down,The sun was shining bright,And everything that you could seeWas hidden out of sight. The organ peeled potatoes,Lard was rendered by the choir; When the sexton rang the dishragSomeone set the church on fire."Holy smokes!" the teacher shouted,As he madly tore his hair. Now his head resembles heaven,For there is no parting there.

I thank you for compiling and posting this information.
I like him very much. I feel as if he is: the-boy-next-door version of: William Powell. I much prefer his comedies more than his dramatic roles.
I frequently watch: The Mystery of Mr. X (1934), Petticoat Fever (1936), Hide-Out (1934), The Last of Mrs. Cheyney (1937) and June Bride (1948).

The Circus (1936) It is beautiful Lyubov Orlova as Vaudeville dancer who runs away to join a circus.
-
Apartment for Peggy (1948) is of difficulties of student life.
The Male Animal (1942) is of politics within university.
Take Care of My Little Girl (1951) is of lessons learned outside classrooms.
Werewolf in a Girls' Dormitory (1961) is of students having fears greater than that of flunking.
Bathing Beauty (1944) is of attempt to end sexual discrimination at university and results of that attempt.
Sex Kittens Go to College (1960) is quite fun.

I tried to go there but it turned out to be a mirage.
Did you know the magic word to open the door to the cave of the forty thieves?

I'm curious to see if the title refers to mercenaries that are also fighters, or those who fight against mercenaries.
If firefighters fight fires and crime fights fight crime then what do freedom fighters fight?

I am watching paint dry.
It is a thick epoxy paint-coating. I must wait until it is at certain exact stage of drying and then will add tint particles. Adding them very early will result in their dissolving which will create unattractive and uneven color. Adding them a little early will result in their settling to the bottom. Adding them a little late will result in their remaining on or near the surface. It is when they are added at exact proper moment that they will come to be suspended within coating and their edges will fuzz because they dissolve only slightly. There is perhaps five-minute window within approx. three-hour dry-time which is ideal for adding.

"...insignificant other..." ? (maybe I should read again, a joke perhaps)
It is common for a person to refer to their spouse as: "significant other."
My spouse is most definitely classified as: "other" but I am adverse to classifying him as: "significant."

I mean, who could turn down some nice vareniki or nalysnyky???
(...whatever THAT is!)
Vareniki are boiled things. They are like little dumplings stuffed with savory or sweet things such as mushrooms or cherries.
Nalysnyky are crepes filled with cheese and cream and are baked in butter.

Humphrey Agnew relaxes in his seat and... The stewardess gives him his gun back.
My insignificant other tells of when he was in high school that there was a time when principal told students to place rifles and shotguns in their lockers during school hours. It was common for them to have weapons in their automobiles so that they could go hunting directly after classes because school was at edge of town and it saved them losing daylight by going home. They were told to bring their weapons into school because some person had broken into several vehicles in the parking lot and stolen weapons.
It is difficult to imagine many young men carrying high-powered rifles into school with blessing of principal now.

Which reminds me...when was the last time a doctor made a house call?
Approx. three weeks past.
The grandmother of one of my doctors was originally from: Kiev. He had loving remembrance of the meals which she prepared. I gave him some mushroom and onion vareniki on one of my appointments. We quickly came to an arrangement that he would come to our home for monthly examination if I would prepare some simple dishes for him. It saves me driving nearly an hour to his office and it is but a matter of ten minutes deviation from his course when he is traveling from his office in one city to his office in different city. Examination is perfunctory glance at my wrist which is quickly done and then we eat and talk.
I made for him: nalysnyky on his last visit and gave him honey cake to take home.

That was a truly beautiful movie to look at. The costumes and production design were very well done, and all of the performances were good, especially Gong Li.
Her range was quite extraordinary. She wore her lust well and her vindictive hatred penetrated to her core. She was a marvel to watch.

Memoirs of a Geisha (2005) It is a movie of exquisite sadness and intimate conflict. I have not watched it since it was first released but acquired DVD of recent. I had forgotten how beautiful a movie it is. It quite simply touches my soul in many ways.

Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998) It is brilliant low-key comedy of errors with very high body count. A young man is cheated out of more money than he has and so he and his friends decide to rob his neighbor for the money he yet owes. This is not as bad as it sounds because his neighbors make their living robbing drug dealers. That robbery is a success but they try to sell the drugs to the person whom the neighbors stole it. This mean that the neighbors and the drug dealer are both after them. The situation becomes complicated after that. There are also two antique shotguns involved.

4:30 p.m. The Picture Snatcher (1933). I still haven’t seen this James Cagney picture.
I like this movie very much. I feel it is slightly different from his usual roles while maintaining his persona well. It is not: White Heat (1949) but what is?

Soooo, humankind escapes Earth to live in a vi-bra-TOR?
I find this an interesting example of differences of perception. My first thought upon seeing that image was that I would not like to meet the space alien whose curling iron that is.

I feel that: Veronica in: Heathers (1988) comes very close to being psychopathic. She participates in several murders and aids in covering them up but she does demonstrate a conscience at the end.

I am watching: Phineas and Ferb's Musical Cliptastic Countdown on: DisneyXD It is countdown of highest-voted songs from: Phineas and Ferb series.
I love the range of musical styles. They have done Betty pop and rock and roll and rap and ballad and pop rock and pop and several others. They are all done to a very high standard and are yet whimsical.
Some of my favorite lyrics are the refrain in the ballad:
You'll always be
My little brothers
Because you're younger
We're related
And you're boys.
I do not know why this tickles me so.
It is sadly now ending and so I will switch over to: Stalag 17 (1953).

Guilty Conscience (1985) is wonderfully twisty. It is: Anthony Hopkins as eminent attorney and: Blythe Danner as his wife. It is difficult to tell much of the movie and not to give spoilers. The ending is quite perfect!

I have heard of gnomes in connection with dirt only. I believe they are portrayed at all times as having pointed hats to facilitate their rapid movement through the ground. They love gardens because the soil is often turned.
The nearest figure to a gnome which I would associate with water is: rusalka.
