  3. I believe that was a given as it is generally considered a vacuum.
  4. This matter would be of very grave concern to me if I knew who that person is and if I cared of: Oscars and if I had recent lobotomy.
  5. Sny (1993) is available for free viewing in full on: YouTube. Link is available at the link I provided for my other comments concerning the movie. In other place in that thread are directions for having: English subtitles. I do not know how to explain description for this movie on: imdb.com. Review does give some information. I must wonder if your: "no animation rule" has effect on placement in your lists of: Gary Cooper movies.
  6. I do not use: "Like" button. It seems to me to embody social dynamics of: Kindergarten class. My concern is solely if my comments engender further discussion.
  7. 1993: Nightmare Before Christmas Addams Family Values Foreign: My Neighbor Totoro - English dubbed version Killing Zoe Three Colors: Blue Dreams / Sny - I wrote of this and provided link at: http://silverscreenoasis.com/oasis3/viewtopic.php?f=80&t=6283#p157904
  8. I wish to assure you quite strongly that I did not join this forum solely to be straight-man for your humour! That is merely one of the perks.
  9. I find it a little sad that a forum dedicated to the wonders of intricate and dramatic movie plots has such mundane and easily-explained problems.
  10. "Some days I feel like Wonder Woman because I wonder where I left my car keys I wonder where my purse is and I wonder where all my money went." - Aunty Acid
  11. I believe that it may be variant of: "Indian weather" which is heavy, cold mists sporadically dispersed over a wide area. It is known also as: Apache Fog.
  12. There is interesting little .swf at: http://wbx-files.s3.amazonaws.com/jacksonpollock_by_miltos_manetas.swf You change colors by pressing left mouse key. I am posting this only to see if name is permissible when it is within a url.
  13. It has been my experience that "Work in Progress" or "Apache Error" or "404" or some similar notice appears when servers are off-line either voluntarily or involuntarily. That was not the situation here. It clearly stated: "Account Suspended."
  14. It is my understanding that this forum is hosted by company other than TCM. It is different servers with different technicians from their main site. I remember that it was conclusion the last time that this happened that TCM had to wait for a few more people to buy DVDs before they had the money to renew the hosting contract.
  15. I believe that one might call these people: "commercial artists" as their work would have little significance apart from movies. The characters they create must meet the demands of the script. I believe that it was the last challenge of last season when their creations were part of very short movie and they were working with a director. They did need to meet criteria set forth by director and then were able to see how their character appeared on the screen. Director and their own appraisal dictated changes to their character prior to shooting. It was added twist that they made two characters but then after first screen test they did need to add third character which fit in with the two because of 'script change' at last minute. They create prosthetics for their characters. It is unforgivable sin for character to look as if they are a person wearing a mask but there seems also to be tacit rule that majority of face has added foam or silicone. It is rare for them to do "beauty make-up" or color-only application to face and hands. It seems to me that greatest concern is time limitation. I have heard it mentioned at various times that character creation requires weeks for movies but they have two days here. I am sure that in real-world situation that they have people who specialize in different aspects of ideation, sculpting and application but here it is one person or one pair doing all the work on their creation. I have looked at schedule and the basic challenge to air tomorrow night is: "oversized toys." I feel that this promises to be fun episode with whimsical characters.
  16. 1990: Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead Mountains of the Moon The Freshman Goodfellas Nuns on the Run The Handmaid's Tale The Witches A Nymphoid Barbarian in Dinosaur Hell Foreign: La Femme Nikita May Fools Dreams The Match Factory Girl A Tale of Springtime
  17. Hamlet (1964) should be on all lists of great and wonderful movies of: 1960s. Director and all actors in major roles received: People's Artist awards at some time in their lives. This is much like: Oscars but consideration is for body of work showing excellence rather than single work. It means that the people recognize them as treasures. Grigori Kozintsev is powerful director and Elza Radzina lifts all movies. I am sure I included this movie in my list of favorites if I made a list for: 1964. Don Kikhot (1957) is likewise. It is very powerful movie with excellent actors at their best. It is sad to say that I know of few: Lenfilm movies which are available on: YouTube. Mosfilm has placed a great number of their movies there. They have their own channel. I believe that you might find it interesting to peruse their offerings.
  18. WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 20, 2016 I Love You Again (1940) Love Crazy (1941) I feel that both of these movies are quite wonderful. They are of a kind in that they are zany comedies with perfect performances by the leading actors and excellent supporting casts. I would rank: I Love You Again (1940) a little higher than: Love Crazy (1941) but I would not argue the point if some person prefers the latter over the former. To have them appear consecutively is a treat.
  19. I have watched it. It would be definitely included in my Top-Ten list of over-hyped movies of the decade. It is a "talking-dog" movie in that no one has concerns over such a dog's enunciation nor eloquence: it is amazing only that he speaks. That this movie presents realistic living environment of most citizens in most cities in Russia is its talking dog as it is one of the first official movies to depict it. The performances are very good but that is to be expected of those actors. Andrey Sokolov in particular delivers fine performances in all of his roles and is in constant demand. I would hesitate greatly before recommending any person to watch it because of its poor production values and I feel very few people in the West would truly understand important aspects of life there. I must admit that I am not fully conversant in realities of life in such conditions because I had little exposure to such. My city was far more open and progressive. We had a cheryomushki with Khrushchyovkas but I had little association with the type of people who lived there.
  20. I love this movie very much! I feel at times that only six people in the world have ever watched it as no one ever discusses it and it is never aired. My opinion of: Christian Slater was considerably changed by his great performance in this movie. "Teen angst with a body count" indeed!
  21. The Sound of Mucus While hiking in the Swiss Alps, Julie Andrews develops a nasty cold. Her hacking and coughing echos down the hills. Villagers think it's BigFoot. They storm the mountain armed with pitchforks and torches to drive him away. They find Julie Andrews huddled in her tent. They have no chickens handy for soup-making so they offer her hot chocolate while the police write her a ticket for imitating an endangered species.
  22. 1987: Swimming to Cambodia Withnail and I The Princess Bride 84 Charing Cross Road Fatal Attraction The Witches of Eastwick House of Games Bagdad Cafe Foreign: Laputa Au Revoir, Les Enfants Babette's Feast My Dad, the Socialist Kulak Princess from the Moon The Last Emperor Rouge A Chinese Ghost Story Sorceress More About the Children of Noisy Village Mournful Unconcern Neo Tokyo I found it very interesting to watch: Swimming To Cambodia and: Monster in a Box (1992) consecutively. Spalding Gray was very engaging in very unusual ways.
  23. 1986: The Name of the Rose The Fly Labyrinth The Clan of the Cave Bear Foreign: Castle in the Sky Kin-dza-dza! Shadows in Paradise 9½ Weeks A Man and a Woman: 20 Years Later
  24. 1985: The Black Cauldron The Breakfast Club Clue Guilty Conscience Jewel of the Nile Kiss of the Spider Woman My Beautiful Laundrette Pale Rider A Room With a View The Shooting Party Foreign: Boris I Ran Namuslu Vabank II, czyli riposta Love and Pigeons My Life as a Dog
  25. 1984: Amadeus Night of the Comet Ghostbusters A Private Function Beverly Hills Cop Romancing the Stone Sixteen Candles The Terminator This Is Spinal Tap Foreign: Repentance - I believe this is: Tengiz Abuladze's best movie. The surreal touches are based on reality. I believe that it is available on: YouTube. Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind The Crazy Family Favorites of the Moon
