  1. You're a smart cookie

    .

Capuchin saw your post and commented that you misspelled: "kookie." I can assure you that he will be doing penance soon for that remark.

I feel that: "cookie" does not properly apply to me. Certain men such as Steve McQueen can make me melt. I can think of no situation which would make me crumble.

  2. Kimmypark18 has clocked in for the evening shift and is on a spamming rampage as I'm typing this.  I googled her username and found hits for multiple forums being spammed simultaneously in addition to this one.  I'm curious if these spams just go automatically as if they were scheduled somewhere? Or is there someone who has to physically hit "Go" or something? It seems like such a worthless endeavor.

It is my understanding that there are scripts which require input of content of post and sites for posting. It is then fully automatic.

It does remind me of old phrase: "It is supposed to be automatic but you actually have to press a button."

  3. All modern forum software has: most-recent-first as either default or option because that is most sensible. Only antiquated software uses: oldest-first approach because it is cumbersome to scroll past all posts in a long thread to reach point where discussion is currently occurring.

The 'logic' of oldest-first post order would lead to presenting oldest threads first. Imagine if user had to scroll through hundreds of pages to find current discussions!

I feel it would be very nice if software for this forum would have option for: oldest-first posts because it would mean one less senseless complaint by: my-way-is-only-way people.

  4. It is categorized as: 'rumor' even although it is definitely true that: Vera Kholodnaya was murdered by some person attached to: French Embassy due to her having affair with their ambassador. It clouds the issue that they may have determined she must be murdered because of the potential scandal or because the ambassador revealed military information or as method of: 'sending message' to ambassador to behave in accordance with his position.

  5. And when they do watch, they probably watch all the seasonal offerings that are all over the dial (remember when that was a phrase that applied to watching tv?)

Dial? Is that not a brand of soap? Was it promotional for them to impress television schedules into the soap so that a person taking a bath might look to see what they might watch later that night or the next day?

I believe that it would be an interesting exercise in engineering to formulate soap so that it would dissolve at proper rate so that its daily use would reveal the next day's schedule.

  6. The logic of this escapes me.  Essentially you're to have four actors you could imagine in a movie together, but nothing that otherwise connects them.  So essentially you're having a block with your favorite actors.

My current thinking is to approach this from the aspect that there are movies which I am sure I would like very much if the cast was significantly different. I can slot more appropriate actors into the roles and thinly disguise the movie.

  7. I needed to find this recipe because we saved money:

We needed limes for preparation of turkey and it is cheaper to buy a bag of them rather as individuals for the number which we needed. This created surplus.

The grocery store had special sale of boneless and skinless chicken thighs. I do not in normal course look at such things because a great deal of flavor resides in bone and skin. I saw they had overestimated how many packages they would sell and so marked down considerably packages which were near expiration date.

I am very happy that I found this recipe because it is quite wonderful!

    Key Lime Chicken Thighs

Spray baking dish with olive oil spray.

Arrange thighs in single layer in baking dish.

Mix four tablespoons of key lime juice with one-eighth teaspoon hot sauce.

    Pour mixture over chicken.

Melt four tablespoons of butter and mix into it:

    one-half teaspoon ground ginger

    one-half teaspoon crushed rosemary

    one-half teaspoon salt

    one-eighth teaspoon garlic granules

    one-half teaspoon ground black pepper

    one-fourth teaspoon paprika

Stir well and allow mixture to warm to release flavors.

    Pour mixture over chicken.

Bake at 375 degrees for one hour.

Spoon liquid in baking dish over thighs. Remove from dish to plates. Garnish with very thin slices of lime.

I sprinkled some crushed red pepper over the chicken thighs. That is not in original recipe but I liked it very much.

  8. I am very sorry to be dense but I have questions:

Can the: produced-for-television programs be made-for-television movies or must they be specials or documentaries?

What definition will you be using for: "sport"? Will competitive skiing count? What of marksmanship and/or hunting? Will chasing girls count as it is often called: Man's Favorite Sport? Can fishing competitions be included? And also do the movies have to be of professional teams or can they involve youth or amateur teams or players?

I wish to note also that you may wish to ask Moderators to: Pin these threads so that they do not become lost to second or third page.

  9. SansFin, your use of English as your second language (or third? fourth?) is more proficient than some who claim English as their first  language.

I thank you for your kind words but I know my limitations in this regard.

English is in tie with: German for third formal and complete language as I studied both at same time in school. I could make myself minimally understood in simple things in several other languages because at-home language of many of my friends was different from at-school language. I could swear proficiently in: Romani by age of twelve. I could practice freely because mother did not know what I was saying. :)

  10. I feel that I should apologize, MissWonderly, for being so very silly and taking this thread so very far off-target.

I wish to assure all that I would likely not truly shoot: Dargo. There are several on this forum which I believe are much more deserving of such attention and I am at all times mindful of duty to place business before pleasure.

I am sorry to say that I know of no way to improve this forum. It is in hands of Moderators and I feel we are not in position to change manner in which they govern. I would like to see political statements confined to: Off-Topic board and reminders to some members that there is no: "right" or "wrong" when it comes to opinions and tastes in movies but it is not within my rights as user of this forum to dictate those changes.

  11. I would MUCH prefer meeting you ... in a little closer proximity, and perhaps next to a warm and cozy little fireplace, while we discuss our favorite films and perhaps the issues of the day.

I thank you for your kind words.

I must wonder if you have considered ramifications of meeting me near fire:

George Carey: You be careful, madam, or you'll turn my pretty head with your flattery.
Kay Wilson: I often wished I could turn your head - on a spit, over a slow fire.

The Music Room (1958) - This is very powerful movie. It draws us into a world transitioning and the life of a victim of that transition. The victim is unsympathetic because of his nature but that serves to highlight powers beyond any person's control because he is fundamentally as the world made him. I have in mind that this is what Nero would have been had he survived to a declining age.

  13. Tryin' to get me all started up again with that whole "true sport" thing, are ya Sans?!!!

Perhaps this is an issue we might discuss in person. I will make accommodations to allay any fears you might have of meeting me by placing table, chair and drink for you at distance from me of eight-hundred-yards, downwind, on a day with light breeze and no gusts. Please ignore little red dot on your chest.

    ;)

  14. Did they do away with the ignore feature during the last upgrade?

That feature remains. Click on your username at top of page and select: "Manage Ignore Prefs." This opens a page on which you can paste name of user you wish to be on your: Ignore list and select options concerning range of items which you wish to Ignore.
