was "Patch of Blue" actress an unhappy suicide?

Elizabeth Hartmann was not in Billy Jack (at least not credited), but she did resemble Delores Taylor, who played Jean. I also thought she looked a lot like Sandy Dennis. They all had the fair-complexion and soft-spoken, almost child-like quality... -
Classics, I too had wondered about the term. I used to (mistakenly) think it had to be a movie about "the Moonies" or "Jim Jones"! *L* Stella gives a great definition, and probably the most classic example would be "The Rocky Horror Picture Show". The film is from the early '70s, but still has a cult following today - even had weekly midnight showings here in St. Louis at the old Varsity Theater until just a few years ago. The audience would come dressed as their favorite character, recite dialogue along with the film, dance & sing during the musical numbers, and even bring props (i.e., rice to throw at the wedding scene, etc.)

The clue "Title Role Uncredited" is what's throwing me. I considered all the dog movies, (Lassie, Rin Tin Tin) as well as the vague titles (Woman in Red. etc.) This is a stumper, but you may be right Mongo. They also had the blind hermit...

It's so funny - befor I actually clicked into the thread, my pick was "Snow White"! You can tell it was money well-spent. Wnderful art!

The name is so suave and debonaire, dont you think? Kinda Bondish...

Yeah, even I missed a lot until I read some other viewers' reviews. The product placement of a Pepsi-Cola on the kitchen counter (in a 60's Crawford flick), and the Columbia Pictures lady at the end with her head chopped off. You gotta see it!

My guilty pleasure is one I chose yesterday for "21" - Strait-Jacket. So campy and tongue-in-cheek, and will never contend for a "masterpiece", but I dig it! Antar, may I suggest "Antonio"? *L* It's so much more ...human!

Congratulations misteere1026! You got it! *S* Your turn.

Minnow, it seems so. I copied this from IMDB, coz I was curious as well: This slender, striking, red-haired, freckle-faced American leading lady, a Carnegie-Tech graduate in the 60s, made a stunning, sensitive film debut as the blind, abused, uneducated girl who falls unexpectedly in love with Sidney Poitier in Patch of Blue, A (1965). That glorious performance earned Elizabeth an Oscar nomination and Golden Globe award and a ticket to stardom. She went on to display amazing versatility in other films as well - as an upperclass collegiate in Group, The (1966), a capricious, hurtful young flirt in You're a Big Boy Now (1966), and a decidedly offbeat performance as a nurse who tends to Clint Eastwood in the Gothic-styled Beguiled, The (1971). She also gave a deeply-felt stage performance in a production of "Our Town" in 1969. But soon things went terribly wrong for this obviously fragile young lady. Plagued by acute depression and insecurity as she saw her career fall by the wasteside within a decade, she turned into a virtual recluse. Her last work was voice work in Secret of NIMH, The (1982). Nothing had been heard of her for years until June 10, 1987, when she threw herself out of a fifth-floor apartment window. Divorced for three years at the time of her death, it was learned that she had been an outpatient at a psychiatric hospital in Pittsburgh and had called her doctor earlier that fateful day informing him that she was despondent. A sad, sad end to a bright, bright talent. -

(Not sure what #7 has to do with it - aren't they all?) Just for another clue I'll say "The Legend of 1900"? PS - You did see my "Kings Row" guess, huh? I could have sworn that was it!
