Being a fan of the Mystery/Whodunit genre, this is also one of my favorites. Well-cast, well-directed (Preminger) and a suspenseful screenplay, it's one of my personal Top 10 of all times - and didn't even make the AFI's Top 100! Unbelievable.

Buck?
-
Yes! Great work on this compilation, Path!
I, too, have often wondered about that scene with the lady being tied to the train tracks. I know Clara Bow didn't have a film credit before 1922. It DOES resemble her, but the clip looks older somehow.
-
Perhaps what intimidates people also, is that they feel the need to come back hourly (or more), and also to award a winner by the end of the evening - neither of which were included in the original rules.

I love TCM. It's a channel that is usually ALWAYS on in my house, whether I'm doing dishes or laundry, etc. But this is always the worst month for programming. These same old horror flicks seem to be aired more out of obligation to "this time of year".
Kind of like saying "I love my political freedom", but I don't care to hear bottle rockets and firecrackers outside my door every 4th of July.
-
just for the sake of another clue, "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir"?
-
I'm game, but first, you gotta say yours!
-
"The Sun Also Rises"?
-
"An Affair to Remember"?
-
Wow Feaito! You got it!

If I was on "Who wants to be a Millionaire", you'd be my phone-a-friend for the classics!
(PS - You didn't even give me a chance to use "rubbers" or "birthday girl", etc....)
Carry on!
-
Sorry, feaito, but not yet...
Hint #2: Infidelity
-
I have one while were waiting! Hope no one minds...
Hint #1: cottages
-
Wild guess: To Erroll Flynn in "Elizabeth & Essex"?
-
Man that didn't help me at all.
Since Neil Simon was squelched, I'll go with that other famous New Yorker and say "Annie Hall"?
-
"Vertigo"?
-
Okay, okay...It's not official yet after all...
My first thought was "Baby Jane" too - I know cf had a role-reversal on the brain, coz Bette Davis character WAS bitchy! -
Yeah. I often thought Stewart's character was either impotent, gay, or chaste in that film.
-
I thought Roger Moore was the best 007! He had a debonaire sophistication the others lacked.
-
I'll take the first stab: "The Raven" (1935)?
-
...and include the new rule: "if you're gonna drop the ball, just don't play"

-
Norma Shearer, "The Women"
-
Karl Malden?
-
hehe.. Good echo effect, slappy!
I was kind of anxious for it to start again too.
-
(I think) I only caught the preview of Nosferatu - wasn't that the one where the wrinkly old man (or vampire?) with long fingers was gliding kind of jerkily across the stairwell landing? If so, that DID look wicked!

Ooops...I was thinking Bambi was a girl. Sorry!
