Any movie with William Powell or the "Duke" makes for great viewing, any day of the week!

It's a wonderful escape from my everyday life. Even though themes in "old" movies are more "spelled out", the intrigue and romance is still there. Not to mention, things are left to one's imagination. For instance, "Waterloo Bridge" (the 1940 version) is one of my favorite movies, primarily for the palpable chemistry between Vivien Leigh and Robert Taylor. The scene where they waltz to "Auld Lang Syne" is a masterpiece. You can feel the sexual tension - even Dr. Ruth commented on this particular movie scene - and the romance remains intact as you don't have to be treated to a graphic sex or groping scene in order for the point to be driven home, so to speak. I'm no prude, by any means, but I am a sucker for old fashioned romance. On another note, I've always marveled at the wittiness and clever humor in the comedies. This reflects true talent, and sharp intellect. My 16 year old son has even gotten hooked on older movies - it started with the "Thin Man" series, of which he is a huge fan. That says a great deal! My parents instilled me with a lifelong appreciation of classic films, and I'm trying to do the same for my kids. So far, they share my appreciaton!
