  1. Something I forgot to note earlier was the fact that Elizabeth Taylor actually was around where I grew up near the Tennessee/Virginia border. Our newspaper printed some of the old photos of her in the late 1970's on her visits. She served as Grand Marshal of the Scott County Tobacco Festival in 1978. It is just a few miles down the road from a place called the Barter Theatre - where Ernie Borgnine and Gregory Peck worked. She spent a lot of time in the area where I grew up. It seems like a lot of folks like her ventured or came from my neck fo the woods. Very rarely does anyone ever know. 2. I'd like for TCM to add "The Only Game In Town," to the list. Naturally everyone has their favorites. Virginia Woolf, Cat, The Only Game In Town, Butterfield 8. Edited by: billrobinson on Mar 24, 2011 5:41 PM
  3. There appears to be an overlooked person when discussing American Indian TV Stars. Ed Ames was not a bit player. He enjoyed a great career and a wonderful singing career that began in the 1950's. Ed played top roles, and was not the "bad Indian" that Hanay Geiogamah states that the Native Indians were all type cast to be. Sorry Hanay - but your wrong. His role as Mingo in the long running TV series with Fess Parker may be his best known work. But, he has appeared as a guest star in numerous flicks that has spanned 40 years. He performed the soundtrack to the War Wagon as well. His live tomahawk throw on the Night Show with Johnny Carson is well remembered. He and his brothers had a show that was called the "Ames Bothers," that aired in 1955. Mingo was the best and was loved by everyone.
