I would consider it a western-comedy-musical since Bob Hope was singing and dancing...I could not imagine Alan Ladd singing...or Bogart singing "As Time Goes By".

What was the first movie song to come from a non-musical and win the Oscar ?
-
In 1944, the Oscar for the best song went to "You'll Never Know" (just how much I miss you...) by Harry Warren and Mack Gordon. It was sung by Alice Faye in the movie "Hello Frisco, Hello". Some say it won because it was appropriate for the times...when most of our servicemen were overseas fighting a war...Anyway, I think the song was in the soundtrack of the three films you mentioned... By the way, Miles, what happened to the songs and movie music threads ? Edited by: mudskipper on Mar 20, 2011 9:32 PM
