  1. This is an interesting four-movie question for movie buffs:

In the 1990s, Bruce Willis starred in a movie which was a remake of an Italian Spaghetti western which was, in turn, based on a Japanese Samurai film inspired by an American film noir...Name the four films....and extra credits if you can name the actors and directors of each.

  2. You're right...I don't know what Bacharach-David and the director had in mind, but the music and the musical numbers totally destroyed the atmosphere conveyed by Hilton's book...This film did so poorly at the box office, that to many in film circles, it's known as "Lost Investment"...I guess it's better it stays lost...

    Your thread.

  3. Correct on all counts, Eve.... John Saxon's other film with Sal Mineo was "Rock Pretty Baby"...Susan Kohner's first feature film was "To Hell And Back"....Unfortunately, "The Big Fisherman", which was also written by Lloyd Douglas, the author of "The Robe", got eclipsed by "Ben-Hur" . But I wish Disney would release it on DVD. It's as much an epic...

    Your Thread, Eve..

  4. That's the wrong biblical film...and the "teen throb" (he may not be in the same category or as popular as Fabian, Elvis, Ricky, Moondoggie or Kookie) was not a singer, but an actor who was in a film once with Sal Mineo, and later with Marlon Brando, and also with Bruce Lee...

  5. It seems that Anne Boleyne was portrayed by Oscar-nominated MERLE OBERON in the 1933 film "The Private Life of Henry VIII" which won an Oscar for Charles Laughton's portrayal of Henry...

Next: an easy one - This actor was adept at playing historical figures including Chopin, A Persian Philosopher, Constantine, and Aladdin...

  6. Thanks, Eve...

Walt Disney rejected this film because of its religious content, but Roy, his brother, supported it and distributed it through Buena Vista. It was shot in Panavision 70 and was one of the few biblical films associated with Disney..It starred a singer in a non-singing role, a teen throb at that time, and an actress who was first seen in a great Audie Murphy movie...The movie was adapted from a book...

  7. Thanks...

I was born in New York and joined the marines in WWII, fighting in Guadalcanal and becoming the only survivor of my platoon. I was also sick with malaria, taking almost a year to recuperate.

After the war, I started as a stand-up comic and impressionist. I adopted the last name of my first wife for my stage name. My TV career started after I won the Ted Mack Amateur Hour, but my most famous role was that in a particular series in the 1960s ....You should have no problem knowing me...
