They all missed out on Oscar-winning roles...Myrna Loy turned down the Claudette Colbert part in "It Happened One Night". Eli Wallach either turned down or was replaced for the Dimaggio role in "From Here To Eternity"...and Edward G. Robinson failed to get the Don Corleone role from "The Godfather" after he was turned down by Coppola. (Mr. Robinson also turned down the Sam Spade role in "The Maltese Falcon")...You can also add Fred Astaire to the list after he turned down the George M. Cohan role in "Yankee Doodle Dandy"...

It was also in "The Lady Eve" with Barbara Stanwyck...
