  1. Here's a very nice song sung by a classic character:

"Why do they make me sing that song?

Now, whoever wrote it was certainly wrong,

"It's bright ahead! Go right ahead!"

I'd rather go home and go right to bed...

    My feet are wet

    My bunions ache,

And yet I've got to keep wide awake..."

Song, character singing, and classic movie ?

  2. Clue:...Both the actor and his long-time friend, the one who was a James Bond villain, appeared together in a classic tale involving a huge dog..( As in another tale, the curious incident of the dog in the night ?).

  3. They all missed out on Oscar-winning roles...Myrna Loy turned down the Claudette Colbert part in "It Happened One Night". Eli Wallach either turned down or was replaced for the Dimaggio role in "From Here To Eternity"...and Edward G. Robinson failed to get the Don Corleone role from "The Godfather" after he was turned down by Coppola. (Mr. Robinson also turned down the Sam Spade role in "The Maltese Falcon")...You can also add Fred Astaire to the list after he turned down the George M. Cohan role in "Yankee Doodle Dandy"...

  4. "Strike Up The Band (Here Comes A Sailor)" from "Strike Up The Band", an early Dave Fleischer cartoon from 1930....Here's a clip:

  5. *"Cocktails For Two" was first sung and introduced in the film "Murder In The Vanities" by Carl Brisson. The most famous version, of course, was the hit parody by Spike Jones and his Orchestra with all the sound effects.*

  6. :) Jo Ann Campbell was a petite blond singer from the Florida Panhandle who was an accomplished drum majorette and dancer. She gave those up to sing during the fifties, havine such hits as "Bobby, Bobby, Bobby" (which some people think refers to Bobby Darin. They were supposed to be a pair before he married Sandra Dee). She also had a hit song with "I'm The Girl From Wolverton Mountain", an answer to Claude King's hit. In th he early sixties she married record producer Troy Seals and retired from show business...
