  1. I don't know what film you were watching, OR if you have seen the film before in other print releases, but IF you know of other transfers of this film, what you saw is AN INCREDIBLE IMPROVEMENT !

Other transfers are virtually unwatchable. The National Film Museum has accomplished the IMPOSSIBLE !

  2. Thank you very much for the recommend.

ALPHA is usually dependable and cost competitive on this releases !

That's saying a lot, after suffering FOR YEARS, it seems, with outfits like MADACY, where they were, almost, the only game in town for these public domain releases !

  3. Thank you very very much, for clearing up this complicated situation.

As to your first comment on the history of the film, and THE BELLS OF ST. MARY routine...wasn't that part of their original comedy club routine or act ?

If one looks at the COLGATE COMEDY HOUR shows, and the published memoirs of Jerry himself, he and they did things like that during their VERY early, first days in show business.

This routine in AT WAR WITH THE ARMY is a rare celebrity memorialization or "nod" to their comedy ROOTS ! We are blessed with the snippet of it in this film.

  4. Good morning,

I'm presently viewing on TCM...AT WAR WITH THE ARMY...with Jerry Lewis Dean Martin.

WHERE can I get a commercial copy of this version ?

The print is astounding !!! There are a lot of them out out there...but ALL inferior scratchy and HORRIBLE !

It was remastered by the NATIONAL FILM MUSEUM in 2005...

Thanks for your the help !

    Yours, Mike
