1865.Confderate Captain Lafe Barstow(Errol Flynn)and a small group of soildiers(Guinn Big Boy Williams,Dickie Jones,Rush Williams,Sheb Wooley,Slim Pickens, etc)are out West to meet up with Cole Smith(Howard Petrie)a cocky underground leader. The plan is to stir up outlaws, rustlers, and the Confederate underground.
After meeting Smith Lafe takes an instant dislike to him,but Smith sneers knowing that hes the key to making the plan work.Lafe, under orders from Robert E Lee has no choce but to go along with Smith.
Indians attack a stagecoach, but the passengers are rescued by Lafe and his men.The two survivors,Joanna Carter(Patrice Wymore)and the driver Gil Craige(Chubby Johnson)are brought to the mountain where the soildiers are hiding.
Lafe finds that Joanna is engaged to Union LT(Scott Forbes)stationed not far away. When the LT comes looking for Joanna,he and his men are captured by the Confederates.
Time is running out when the indians are planning to attack the mountain.
This was Errols last Western and he plays the part of Lafe Barstow remarkably well. This was also Errols last film with constant sidekick, pal, and later one of Errols pallbearers,Guinn Big Boy Williams.
Patrice Wymore later became MRS Flynn.
Great Western.

England,Shortly after WW2.Bill Saunders(Burt Lancaster)an ex GI and POW gets into a fight with a pub owner and accidently kills him. After a narrow escape with the police,Bill stumbles into an apartment owned by Jane Wharton(Joan Fontaine)a nurse at the local hospital. In spite of the situation,Jane and Bill fall in love.

Jane gets Bill a job driving a truck with drugs needed by the hospital.Again Harry runs into Bill and the gangster tells him he will forget the night in the pub if Bill will let his men hijack the truck.
This is one underated Film Noir.
Good scene when Bill takes Jane to the zoo and he sees the caged wild animals, which reminds him of the two years he spent in the German POW camp.
