  1. Im a big Deanna Durbin Fan.

My favorite,Christmas Holiday.(1944)Deanna,Gene Kelly and Robert Siomak seem strange together, but its still a Grat Noir with Deanna singing,Spring Will Be A Little Late This Year and Irving Berlins Always.

    Other good ones.Amazing MRS Holiday(1943)

    Cant Help Singing(1944)Deanna in a Western?You bet.Great Film.Jerome Kern score.

My least favorite.Three Smart Girls(1936)A little on the foolish side. The songs?Sort of weak.

  2. LT Charles Mason(Dean Harens)on leave gets a Dear John letter from his girlfriend.Charles meets nightclub singer Jackie Lamount(Deanna Durbin)with a sad story to tell.

Jackie had once been married to Robert Manette(Gene Kelly)whos doing time for murder.Roberts mom(Gale Sondergaard)stupidly blames Jackie for her sons problem.

Charles and Jackie are falling in love, but they soon get word Robert has escaped.

Not a typical Deanna Durbin or Gene Kelly film, but its still good.

    Dir Robert Siodmak.

Deanna sings Always and Spring Will Be A Little Late This Year.

  3. Ruth Holiday(Deanna Durbin)is a missionary working in war torn Southern China is trying to sneak Chinese orphans into the United States. She,at last, gets them aboard a ship going Stateside but,of course,he problems are only beginning.

    One of Deannas few dramas.

    Good Cast,Barry Fitzgerald,Arthur Treacher,Edmond OBrien,etc

  4. Charles Boles(Dan Duryea)says farewell to two pals,Lance(Jeffery Lynn)and Jersey(Percy Kilbride)and heads to California.

Soon the Wells Fargo stagecoaches are being held up by a mysterious masked outlaw called Black Bart(Duryea)

Another stagecoach is held up by Bart with pretty Lola Montez(Yvonne De Carlo)a nightclub singer.Bart falls in love with her.

Also on the stagecoach is Lance and Jersey who dont know Bart is their old pal Charles.

This was Frank Lovejoys first film.

Remade in 1967 as Ride To Hangmans Tree.

  5. Its your wife. What should I tell her?

    Henry Morgan

    Tell her I dropped dead.

    Akim Tamiroff

    The Gangster

It hurts a little when you fight your way out of a gutter.

    Barry Sullivan

    The Gangster

There he is,the King Of Sheba.

Henry Morgan talking about Barry Sullivan.

    The Gangster

  6. Story of a widow(Ann Harding)who brought up three sons(George Brent,George Raft, and Randolph Scott)Ann must find them before Christmas Eve or she will lose everything to a shifty nephew(Reginald Denny).

George B is a playboy down on his luck.

George Raft is a wanted criminal promised a pardon if he can find a nazi war criminal in South America.

Randolph Scott is a washed up rodeo rider.

    Good cast,Joan Blondell,Virginia Grey,Joseph Sawyer,etc

The reason why I put it here is the George Raft segment is in the Film Noir mode.

  7. Great Noir/Gangster film.Never on and impossible to find.

    Great cast,Don Red Barry,Ann(Detour)Savage,Adele Mara,Tom Powers,Sheldon Leonard,Harry Shannon,Nestor Paiva,Anthony Caruso,etc

Note Harry Shannons best remembered part will probably be Orson Welles dad in Citzen Kane.he also played Elvis Presleys dad in Wild In The Country.

  8. A movie on the Hard To Find list.Never shown.

Edward G Robinson is an exgang czar sentenced to death. His mob on the outside kidnap the wardens daughter.Eddie tells the warden, when he goes, she goes also.

He makes a deal with another murderer(Peter Graves)if he will split the loot hes got hiden away he will help him escape.Things go well, until Peter is wounded in the escape and Eddie finds the money is stashed in a bank..
