  1. Does anyone know if there are any plans to release additional seasons of Alfred Hitchcock Presents? I have seasons 1-4 and was expecting season 5 to be released last year. Thanks
  2. So, exactly how historically inaccurate was this film? They got her hair color right, that's about it! I couldn't stop laughing and rolling my eyes during most of it. In the film she dies of pneumonia. Didn't she really die of uremic poisoning? There is no mention of her relationship with William Powell (well he was still alive then so maybe that is why). Towards the end she is portrayed as sex crazed, out of control and always clutching a bottle. All her real movies like "Dinner at Eight", "Libeled Lady","Saratoga Trunk", etc., replaced by made up names like "Blonde Virgin"?!?!? And
  3. I know lots of people have been looking for this film.....If you check out the shopping page, "Wild River" (Montgomery Clift, Lee Remick) will be available as part of the the "Elia Kazan DVD Collection" in November, available for pre-order now. Looks like the collection includes possibly every film Kazan made. Edited by: AllTheLovelyStars on Oct 4, 2010 1:33 PM
  4. Anyone have any idea when/if this is going to be released on DVD? It has been in my "SAVED" section of the DVD que on Netflix forever, like so many others. It just says "release date unknown". Can't figure out why Natalie Wood's best film is the one not available on DVD. She is so funny and lovely and at her best in this film. Edited by: AllTheLovelyStars on Jul 27, 2010 4:49 PM
  5. THE EXTERMINATING ANGEL, if you haven't seen it check it out it is on DVD now. FORBIDDEN GAMES (French) this film has always stuck with me
  6. Which films of the 1930's 1940's 1950's 1960's really pushed the limits of the conventions of their times? (discussions and context that was generally taboo but somehow these films slipped them in?)
  7. I just thought I'd mention this film, although not old (I believe made in 2000) because it is a wonderful French language film, smartly shot in black and white, that just has the essence of a beautiful French film from the 1950's or early 1960's......although being made in 2000, they can say and do things not allowed back them. I have never seen another film like this, it is truely beautiful in every way. Vanessa Paradis, you may know, as the long time girlfriend of Johnny Depp. A very talented and lovely actress. 8. Yes, I was very impressed with Stanley in Seance on a Wet Afternoon. In "The Goddess" I felt like I was seeing a real 1950's true Broadway talent- and I was. I had never heard of Kim Stanley before and I've been watching classic films for nearly 15 years. If you ever get a chance to see her in "I can't Imagine tomorrow" she really is amazing in that as well. Her personal life was extremely colorful to say the least. A great actress.
  9. DIRK BOGARDE - Incredibly talented English actor PIER ANGELI Also her twin sister, MARISA PAVAN (spelling maybe off?) in "The Rose Tattoo" GERALDINE PAGE ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Maybe I should have titled this thread "Actors and Actresses who don't get enough credit" or something (I'm sure that all die hard classic movie fans know their names, but maybe not the "casual" classic movie fan) But....I don't see a way to edit my original post to change the title. 10. Anyone feel free to add their favorites SAL MINEO KIM STANLEY SUSAN STRASBERG JEAN SEBERG SUE LYON Perhaps also (except to people who really know classic film) I would add Montgomery Clift. Everyone knows Brando and Dean, but not nearly as many would know who you mean when you said "Clift". Granted I know most do not have a great many films to their credit, but they all deserve to be remembered as they were great actors or made a splash in atleast one great movie.
  11. Has TCM ever shown this film? I heard that Fox's Movie Channel (which I don't get) has shown it. It has never been released on DVD. Elia Kazan, legendary director, Montgomery Clift, legendary star, beautiful film, Fox, why no DVD release? I know I'm not the only one wondering this. Plus this is one of the only (three I believe?) films where Monty is in color, not black and white. The lovely Lee Remick co-stars.
  12. Has anyone else seen Kim Stanley in "The Goddess"? I'm sure some of you have as it was shown late at night on TCM once. I have never seen it again. After seeing this movie I read the book "Female Brando: The legend of Kim Stanley". I have seen her only other two films available, Seance on a wet afternoon and "I can't Imagine Tomorrow" on a DVD called "Dragon Country". Has anyone else ever seen any of her Broadway performance? Were any of them taped? I also enjoyed Seance on a wet afternoon. Stanley had a small part in Frances, but that was when she was older. If anyone has any commen
