Yep, and with Jack himself using the box office failure of The Horn Blows at Midnight, his last leading role in a theatrical film, as a running gag in his own radio and television programs for many years following.

(...and actually a lot better movie than its reputation would suggest)

I know. He got a lot of use out of that being his worst film.

  2. I rarely watch TCM these days. I don't care for most of the stuff they are showing now. I don't go for much after 1960.  I like the old films. Then I saw the scedule for New Years Eve and.. what a surprise. Nick and Nora are spotlighted again! And That's Entertainment. Bah!

It's bad enough that they show the same old same old on Halloweeny. Although I'm pleased that they celebrate Claude Rains' birthday with a tribute, they don't do so for Lugosi and even if they only have four or five of his films, they could at least make the effort.

No. I'm not really a fan anymore. Looking forward to MeTV's cartoon Saturdays coming in January.

What Janet? The idea of these bubble bath containers?

(...or the idea that I was a spoiled kid?)  ;)

LOL! maybe both. No, in all honesty, it was the Mr. Bubble containers. I seem to remember spraying foam on the tile wall, but I can't remember why...

And speaking of our youth and the Saturday morning TV fare we watched back then.

Anyone remember these Rocky and Bullwinkle bubble bath containers that were sold in the soap section of supermarkets in the mid-'60s?...4ba9bf25029380f95ebcf213aa760335.jpg

(...I do...I had my mother purchase them whenever I accompanied her to the store...yeah yeah, I was a spoiled brat, so what of it?!)  ;)

    Oh, no! Not that!

TCM shows "Popeye" each Saturday morning.  MeTV shows "The Flintstones" and has been advertising "Looney Tunes" as coming soon.  I wish someone would show "Rocky & Bullwinkle".  I'm not much on cartoons, but I did watch reruns of that with my dad.  So that one would be fun to see again.

    Lori

Oh, I thought the same thing! I would love to see the Rocky & Bullwinkle Show again. After everything that's been going on this year, the happy days of the Cold War seems so... so... small.

Good ol' Bullwinkle who studied at the Watchmaker's University, otherwise known as Tick Tock Tech!

But like you said Janet, not that particular color of blue/green called "Frost Turquoise" I posted a pic of earlier, eh?!

So as you recall, would the Mustang's color in your locale perhaps be a brighter or darker color than that one, or maybe more greenish than bluish?

(...heck, we'll get to the bottom of this YET!)  ;)

It's darker than that pretty car you posted. More green than blue, like I said. You better go out and get yourself a giant box of Crayolas and find the blue/green crayon. That's the color of this car.

Hmm... I'll let you know if I see it again in my travels.

I can't stop to take a photo. The house is on a busy street. But the car looks to have been a wreck at some point and painted that weird blue/green.

Actually Janet, if the Mustang you saw looked like this...

     1967_00071_04.jpg

...it was a stock color for that year. FoMoCo named it "Frost Turquoise".

Nope. It's more blue/green. It doesn't look like a stock color to me.

  9. A fellow Sven fan at work said he saw the ad for this film coming up on Svengoolie. He thought the monster looked fakey stupid.  I gave him the history about the film and Ray Harryhausen, the history behind this incredible animator, and the writer Ray Bradbury. It's a wonderful film, one of those we kids grew up with and feared and cheered. Who doesn't like a monster that eats cops? Anyway, I'm not a fan of the way the monster is treated and wonder what would happen in today's world. Would the army be called in to shoot the beast? Would scientists try to capture the monster and study it?

  10. I am loving the lineup they have today. I'm looking forward to Two On a Guillotine as that was one of the first films that my father decided I should watch with him. Mind you, I was just a little girl and it scared me to death. House on Haunted hill was the next one. I can hear Pop to this day... "You want to watch a spooky movie, kid?" Our horror host at the time was Feep, a guy dressed in a silver space suit with a lightbulb head who came out of a radio dial. Feep2.thumb.jpg.e5e7c87fc8d67bb5414ecb306dd85d0c.jpg

Okay, what's with the 1950s leading men with shoulders a mile wide (and, I assume...EVERYTHING...else in proportion)? (Just this kitten's catnip.)  Was it a subliminal attempt to signal that the daddy-types that had gotten us into the Cold War could be relied upon to get us out?

    It's those shoulder pads.
