  1. I've been watching the series. I love Bonita. She's cute. And it's just the right kind of show for a Saturday morning, followed by a creature feature. My kind of Saturday.
  2. I'd like to see some Boston B l a c k i e films.
  3. Since I hadn't seen And Then There Were None in yonks either, I bought the DVD. It's a nice little film.
  4. Are you like on my ****, or what? There is hardly a Jimmy Cagney film that I don't like.
  5. The Road Runner/Coyote series is the best. I don't remember the title, but my all time fave scheme of the coyote's is when he dons a crash helmet with a pulley wheel on top. He is trying to balance himself precariously on a wire that runs from a precipice to the highway below. He turns himself upside down in order to get the pulley on the wire. The drums roll as he is attempting to balance himself. The drums rll again and again as he is trying to balance. All of a sudden, the wire breaks - BOING! - and you know whare he ends up. But the epitome is the Acme Indostructo Steel Ball.
  6. One of my faves too. Bug’s everlasting search for the perfect Pismo Beach vacation and leading them into a whole other place on the planet. You got the Warner Brothers orchestra playing, “We’re in the Money” as Daffy ogles the loot. Perfect intro into the greediness that is Daffy. Bugs, of course, has no interest in the dough. Favorite line: Bugs: What’s wid you anyway? Daffy: I can’t help it. I’m a greedy slob. It’s my hobby. Save me!!!”
  7. Haven't seen this film in twenty-five years. It played on the USA Network on Commander USA's show. Anybody remember that one? Anyhow, I purchased the DVD and was not disappointed. Good fun. Abel Salazar was a handsome man who knew how to smooch.Got the usual horrible special effects and the comedy relief copper, but it's still good fun. Great fodder for a Friday afternoon at the movies.
  8. Did they really have reform schools back then? I remember my father threatening to send me to one when I was wicked, but I always thought it was just a bunch of hooey.
  9. Is there anybody out there that has ever heard of the Western Movie World? They have a collection of Boston **** DVDs for $39.95. There doesn't seem to be any customer reviews for this item and I'm wondering if anybody here has ever bought anything from them.
  10. I have a hard time watching Bus Stop. It reminds me of my days of wiggling & jiggling before a hord of enraptured men. "Way, hey, rock & roll, put another dime in the jukebox, baby..."
  11. Nah. I love TCM. But I am not tuned into it every hour. This morning I watched a noir film on Movies! because I didn't care for the line up on TCM. No biggie. But I gotta tell ya. Even when there isn't anything on TCM that I want to see, I still go there. I am so darn sick of the drug commercials and hair restoration and how big someone's wee wee can be. TV Land has hit new heights in commercial land. I like the Andy Griffith Show, but they play an episode for 40 minutes. Not full episodes either. I watch Leave it to the Beave on MeTV in the morning, and often wonder why Ken Osmond's name appears in the credits, but I don't see him on the show. Same with Perry Mason. They very rarely show switchboard Gertie. I know many of you will think I'm nuts, but when I came to look at my new apartment and found out the cable was included in the rent, my decision to rent was based on whether or not they got TCM. Goony, I know, but I love old movies.
  12. I know at least two people this weekend who will be tuning into Svengolie instead of TCM. Myself and my youthful co-worker, who has never seen the Creature from the Black Lagoon before.
  13. I think All Quiet is one of the best pictures ever made. I was in high school when I first saw it and I remember sitting through at least half of it with my mouth hanging open. Lew Ayers is every mother's son, and the school kid's ambition to go to war is an all powerful scene. The butterfly, the sniper... Oy.
  14. I briefly scoped out the October schedule and from what I saw I think October on TCM is going to stink. Why are they running Dr. Kildaire on Saturday mornings? Following that is the Hammer mummy movies. Yuk! I was so happy to see the Nancy Drew series on Saturdays this month followed by really bad 50's sci-fi. I dunno. Thank goodness for Svengoolie, as cheesy as he is.
  15. The Braniac Is this thing available anywhere? I'm gonna check Amazon because I haven't seen this film in 30 years and it has a special remembrance for me.
  16. I like the Creature from the Black Lagoon. I think the costume is one of the most imaginative ever created. I like the action in the film and the actors, the lagoon itself is creepy. A great film. And I went to my brother's to watch it on his giant screen TV. It was like being in the theater. Lotta creature covered that screen. Fave scene (and I don't have a screen cap), is the native who is backing away from the creature and saying, "No... No... No... Noooooo!!" It makes me think about all the actors in the mummy pictures who, no matter how fast they were running, could never escape the foot-dragging pharaoh.
  17. It was a double bill; The Ghost and Mr. Chicken followed by Father Goose.
