  1. I didn't know it was Chester Morris Day. I was out and about and tuned into Secret Command just in time to see Chet lying in a hospital bed smoking a cigarette. Boy, those were the days.
  2. Well, there was some old blackies on this morning, then they went with some color junk. I went to my film library at this point and watched "The Birds". I love TCM no matter what they play, but if I don't care for anything that's playing, I put on a DVD that I want to watch. No biggie. One of the Fox stations was playing Laura at any old time and I kept missing it because of the oddball hours it was on. So I bought the darn thing on Amazon and can watch it whenever I wanna. I don't know if TCM is changing for the better or worse. But I tune into the channel mainly because there are no commercial breaks, and believe me folks, I am putting this as nicely as I possibly can. Some days I like to watch an episode or two of Andy Griffith. Have you noticed that TV Land plays the episodes for 40 minutes? My, God, Jim! Heaven help us all if we miss a second of how to hold a cane, how to wear diapers, how to apply for life insurance, or how to go up and downstairs electronically.
  3. Uh, oh. I forgot to say thank you. I got this new blue ray thing and a 40" TV. The Birds is so awesome, lilke seeing it on the big screen. Now onto Jaws...
  4. I guess so. I love his role title: Drunken Doomsayer in Diner
  5. Does anybody know who the actor is in The Birds who keeps saying, "It's the end of the world!"?
  6. I'd seen it many years ago and happened to see that it was on today and before I had to go to work too! I loved Chester Morris in this film. He was excellent. Far from his Boston **** character, that's for sure. Real good film.
  7. Has Hollywood ever done justice to King's novels? Granted, Mr. King's works are lengthy, but why bother if they're not going to stay true to the book?
  8. It's pretty darn cool how even this simple animation actually looks like Mitchum.
  9. She uses far too much salt in her recipes. Oh, sorry. You meant the film. Never saw it.
  10. I learn quite a lot from the posts on the Forum. I purchased Clifton Webb's book and am enjoying it immensely and I also found Night of the Hunter in PDF format on the web for free, which I am also enjoying. Good writing.
  11. The movie was "Bad Boy". No bad words. Just "Bad Boy"
  12. I tried to do a search on a film that aired yesterday (5/13), wondering if anybody else had seen this thing. It has the word bad in it and boy and had a scene where Stanley Clements sings a western ditty while playing guitar. Pretty bad, is right! When I put the words together, it wouldn't let me go anywhere! Censored!
  13. Quite nice! I used one for my desktop background. Hope you don't mind, but they are really neat.
  14. I just finished the book last night. I watched the film afterward. I think Clifton Webb was perfect for the part of Lydecker, though not resembling the book version of Waldo.
  15. Mary Poppins. Hated it when I was a kid and still do.
  16. I still have Windows XP. Haven't had any issues yet, but I don't have enough RAM on it to upload Windows 8. I am going to get a refurbished PC at tigerdirect.com. Good deals according to my IT boss.
  17. It kills me what Hollywood does to Stephen King's novels. I watched Bag of Bones one day and couldn't figure out why they made so many changes to the story, such as the way the wife dies. It couldn't have been a time element issue, because they could have just as easily done it the way it was written in the book.
  18. My favorite comes from a Flintstones episode where Fred is battling with his evil self-conscience. He and Barney split a sweepstakes ticket and Barney is holding it. Fred’s evil self talks him into getting it back. Fred hesitates and says, “I feel like a big fat crook.” To which his evil self replies, “So you’re fat. Does that make you dishonest?” I love that!!!
  19. I enjoyed his sparring with Slim Summerville in Captain January.
  20. I read Mystery of Edwin Drood years ago because there seemed to have been a big to do about how the writers at Universal were going to end the Claude Rains film version. I don't recall how the book ended, if it even did, but I enjoyed the film a whole lot more.
  21. I found a couple websites where you can download Perry Mason novels in PDF or TXT formats. I also bought a few old paperbacks on Ebay. I am loving these mystery novels!
  22. I just bought a blue ray player. I bought some Abbott and Costello movies on DVD. Side 1 played fine, but when I flipped the disk to play the other films, I got the Universal logo and then nothing. Next day I tried it again and it played. Weird.
  23. How about that old standby, kicking the bucket?
