  1. I love Danny Kaye. I have a hate/love thingie for this movie as well, but it has to do with the stick chick. Her costume towards the end of the film doesn't even fit her. I love her dance number with DK, but again, it's painful to watch because she is so skinny.

  2. I've got the film on now and it stinks. Why they didn't film it in Rhode Island is beyond me.

Willie was my fave character and if you told me back in 1966 that I would meet John Karlen, I would have said you were nuts. But I did. Took Old Man Karlen to the location shots of the movie - Tarrytown, NY - Sleepy Hollow. Went to breakfast with the man. He called me a hillbilly because I put ketchup on my eggs. We brought him to Sleepy Hollow where they filmed House of DS and I tried to get him to throw a bottle at the Collins Mausoleum, but he was hesitant to defile a grave. Had a lot of fun with that man. He's a stitch. Full of the devil.

  3. Eureka!

So what I did to avoid copyright issues with the photographers of these pictures is... I used a couple different photos for the background, added cactai here and there. The coyote's body is from one photo and his head from another. Pretty cool, eh? (This was my southwestern phase.)

  4. Woiuld these paintings be of Miss Glory, or girls from Jones Beach?

Noooooooo. If I could figure out how to post a photo here, I would show you. I took a couple backgrounds from Arizona Highways and a couple photos of a coyote to create one drawing. According to teacher, this is how you get around copyright issues when painting or drawing from photographs. So there.

  5. You can get around this issue if you use two or three photos to make one. I took an art class years ago that addressed this problem. Do not copy from the original photo. Take three or four images and mix them up. I have done several paintings this way and it's perfectly legal.

  6.

Charlie Chan. It must be a copyright issue, no?

I seem to remember a few years back that there was some sort of controversy about the way Chan was portrayed - that it offened some Asian people. I haven't seen the films since. Too bad. I love them. I did find a place on line to read some of Earl Derr Biggers' Chan novels though.
