Got up early. Washed all bedding, vacuumed, cleaned house, all while watching the Twilight Zone marathon on Scifi. Will watch A & C Meet Frankie later. Going out to obtain a bit of likker. Not much. Got fresh shrimpies in the icebox. That's it, kids. Happy New Year to all and best health.

I think Benny Hill's version of Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head is the best version, but that's just me.

I can't imagine why someone would have an issue with your posts. Please stay.

Ben said that Glenda Farrell's contract with Warners was up. The Lola Lane film flopped and Warners renewed Farrell's contract. So she'll be back.
-
Absolutely. Love these films. I'm a Glenda Farrell fan from way back.

Stick around, Helenbaby. You've as much right to be here as anybody else.

Filmed at Universal's Paris Opera House?
-
Is this the film in which Lionel Atwill says, "Here is a man with a beard and you didn't even bother to pull it"?
-
Addison - sucked, huh?

I've got the film on now and it stinks. Why they didn't film it in Rhode Island is beyond me.
Willie was my fave character and if you told me back in 1966 that I would meet John Karlen, I would have said you were nuts. But I did. Took Old Man Karlen to the location shots of the movie - Tarrytown, NY - Sleepy Hollow. Went to breakfast with the man. He called me a hillbilly because I put ketchup on my eggs. We brought him to Sleepy Hollow where they filmed House of DS and I tried to get him to throw a bottle at the Collins Mausoleum, but he was hesitant to defile a grave. Had a lot of fun with that man. He's a stitch. Full of the devil.

Anybody seen it and care to comment?

Hmm... Interresting that most of the songs that suck came out in the 70s & 80s. I've been trying to think of a lousy movie song from the 30s or 40s and can't come up with a one.

Now something like this, which I copied from a poster, is strictly for my own amusement. If I wanted to sell it, then it may be a copyright issue, even though I've added my own take on it.

Eureka!
So what I did to avoid copyright issues with the photographers of these pictures is... I used a couple different photos for the background, added cactai here and there. The coyote's body is from one photo and his head from another. Pretty cool, eh? (This was my southwestern phase.)

Woiuld these paintings be of Miss Glory, or girls from Jones Beach?
Noooooooo. If I could figure out how to post a photo here, I would show you. I took a couple backgrounds from Arizona Highways and a couple photos of a coyote to create one drawing. According to teacher, this is how you get around copyright issues when painting or drawing from photographs. So there.

I lived down south for a few years and learned something really cool. When passing people on the street, say hello. It works just as well in NYC as anywhere. New York, New York, it's a wonderful town!!!

Definately have to agree. It's a lovely film. I also tear up at the little Dutch girl thing. John Payne is no slouch of a man. Edmund Gwenn shines. A great film all and all.
-
You can get around this issue if you use two or three photos to make one. I took an art class years ago that addressed this problem. Do not copy from the original photo. Take three or four images and mix them up. I have done several paintings this way and it's perfectly legal.

I'm pretty sure the toilet needs attention moreso.

No contest. The Way They Were, Memories. Gag! I hate that song and I hate Barbara Steisand,
-
Charlie Chan. It must be a copyright issue, no?
I seem to remember a few years back that there was some sort of controversy about the way Chan was portrayed - that it offened some Asian people. I haven't seen the films since. Too bad. I love them. I did find a place on line to read some of Earl Derr Biggers' Chan novels though.

Yes, yes, yes, Infinite1 and PrinceSaliano!
Add to those lists Remember Last Night and Slightly Honorable.

That would have unnerved me too!

I've got a big ol sheppard/lab rescue dog that I've been bringing to Mama's old folk's home. Her name is Maggie and the old timers love her to death. My good deed for the day. Merry Christmas, folks!

I love Danny Kaye. I have a hate/love thingie for this movie as well, but it has to do with the stick chick. Her costume towards the end of the film doesn't even fit her. I love her dance number with DK, but again, it's painful to watch because she is so skinny.
