Hello Everyone,
I was wondering if anyone remembers a comedy from the forties about a dog and a horse who believe they are deliberately put down by their owner, a rich young woman to whom they were always faithful. They arrive in heaven only to be given permission to return to earth as a man and woman to investigate why she did this unjust thing. They show up with angry intent at the woman's home (posing as reporters or detectives), and begin to investigate their murders, only to discover that they were not the real target for the killer and that their former beloved mistress is in serious danger and they must help her. The horse was played by a woman with dark hair and a long face, sort of like a young Rosalind Russel, and the dog was played by a shorter man who would snack on dog kibble (I think when things got tense).
I ran a search on Russel's filmography, but nothing like this turned up so I don't think it was her. I just remember watching this movie on the Saturday Afternoon Matinee as a child and loving it and haven't been able to find it since. Can anyone help? I would love to remember what this movie was called.
Thank you!
