Today is the anniversary of the birth of Hollywood?s most underrated actor and undeniably the world?s most beautiful man. I find myself reflecting on the impact that George Peppard has had on my life. As a young child I recall The Blue Max and probably my first childhood crush as he portrayed Dr Jake Goodwin in Doctor?s Hospital at the tender age of about 9 yrs old . Of course I would have seen Breakfast at Tiffany?s and his early work from the 60?s-70?s (I too would have loved to serenade him from the window if only I had the voice), but it was his emergence in the A-Team that re-ignited my passion for George Peppard as I entered my late teen years. He had aged beautifully and with his distinguished stunning good looks I fell in love with him all over again (and how!!). Some 20 odd years later I have revisited as much of his work that I can find. The brilliance of this actor is even evident in the frivolity of the A-Team (especially the early years) where his timing and delivery of the punch line is impeccable and a testament to his true talent.
It is with sadness that perhaps George never achieved more success than he had, and deserved, for himself and that we as his faithful fans would have been delighted to indulge in. I hope that his name will be forever preserved by those entrusted with its guardianship and that we may one day see a biographical account of his career told by those that revered him.
I reflect today that maybe George Peppard has had a greater impact on my life from those early influences that I am even consciously aware of ? I am now an airline pilot and surprisingly all the men in my life seen to have ?peppardesque? qualities.
Miss you George, wish you were still here handsome
