question: are all the film noir movies that they show crime related?

I may be thinking of 2 different movies but here is what i can see in my head:

 

-husband and wife. the husband buys her all these fancy things and keeps them in their big mansion. she never leaves the mansion i dont remember why. i think she loves puzzles and does them all the time. the very last scene is one man telling another man the story of the mansion owner and as they are walking through the mansion, all the stuff is still there, only dusty and old now.

 

-the other scene I remember which may or may not be the same movie is a husband and wife, the wife has another lover. someone tries to drown the other in a boat and i think the wife is the one who dies. then i believe the lover and husband are in the same room talking about her? or he tries to drown the wife but ends up drowning the lover? or maybe one of them plans on drowning the other but ends up drowning themselves.

 

sorry my memory is so foggy!! can someone please help me identify this movie? or movies? its driving me crazy!!
