Another movie that i have not seen lately is "The Proud and the Profane." It stars William Holden and Deborah Kerr. Has anyone else seen this movie?
-
Does anyone remember this movie with Hayley Mills and James MacArthur? I always liked this movie and never see it. I am going to suggest this movie be shown on TCM. Does anyone, not MY FAVORITE FILMS, have any information or anecdotes about this movie?

I have noticed that a response that I posted yesterday to my favorite films thread has been removed. is there a network administrator that removes postings. If there is, I think everyone who posts to the various threads should be made aware. If one member (my favorite films) can start his/her own thread about what films he/she watches each day, then why doesn't the administrator suggest that this subject is more appropriate for an internet blog? Please clarify for various individuals what entries TCM thinks viewers can post, rather than direct censorship. If there is an administrator, could you please make an announcement and set up a thread, so that individuals can direct questions to you.

Where is my posting? I will say again that no one cares what you think. If you want to journal on your personal opinions, you might think about starting your own blog on the internet, rather than posting your own blog on the forum. is there not a network administrator who can control the forum threads? There must be one, because my previous posting cannot be found.

The incident described by Esther Williams was not on a movie set, it was in private when Jeff
Chandler revealed himself. I was extremely disappointed. I always liked Jeff Chandler, but I will admit it was disconcerting to me. If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it must be a duck. I have read that a great many were angry at Esther Williams for revealing this, I do not think she would have risked the controversy unless it was true. I have also read various things describing Dan Dailey's cross-dressing. If he wore Linda Darnell's gowns, he probably did not look nearly as beautiful as she did.

Thanks for the answer. If I post a question on this forum, do you think that it might get to Robert Osborne? Thanks again.

I agree wholeheartedly with you. When i watch TCM, i want to see real classics, not modern classics. the name is, after all, Turner Classic Movies.

Why would anyone care about this thread? Talk about an egomaniac.

Arturo, any idea why there is an area beside my previous post that says edit? One more bit of info. re Esther William's bio, supposedly Jeff Chandler was wearing a polka dot dress and she wanted to tell him that polka dots made him look fat.
-
Esther Williams says in her biography that Jeff Chandler surprised her one day by wearing a wig, make-up, dress, high heels . They had talked about getting married, but this caused her to reconsider. She stated that the actor told her that his ex-wife had had no problems with cross-dressing. Apparently,Esther did.

Frandi, I'm glad someone else has noticed this, also. Why doesn't he answer? Does he have anything to do with this forum at all? If he is the host of TCM classic movies, then he should be able to demonstrate this by answering questions from viewers. I know he seems to great on tv with celebrities, but what about the viewers. They are the reason that TCM exists. What do you think?

Does Robert Osborne ever answer any questions himself on this forum? Just wondered.........

I find your discussions about women's gowns fascinating,do you know anything about Jeff Chandler?

I think that your opinion of Marilyn Monroe is totally vicious. She was an unappreciateed actress and human being. I have read many of your opinions and consider them all to be snide and lacking in any sensitivity and awareness.

What do they have to do with "The Sound of Mucus" - you're off topic again.
-
The only thing more boring than Oprah is a reunion of "The Sound of Music" cast. I agree with Christopher Plummer's comment calling it "The Sound of Mucus." I think this movie has been celebrated ad nauseum. I also wish that everyone would let this movie die in peace.

I originally intended the comment about Jeff Chandler as an anecdote, not a snide remark. I also do not consider Dan Dailey to have been a major performer on a scale with Gene Kelly or Fred Astaire, but mainly a "hoofer" like Donald O'Connor. He certainly could not have carried a major picture on his own. However, as one poster mentioned, we are all entitled to our own opinion.
