My great uncle Alva Lee Taylor was a horse wrangler, stuntman, and actor in the early 1920's and 1930's and 1940's. Some of his movies were "The Last of the Mohicans", "Virginia City", "The Mark of Zorro", and "The Son of the Sheik". My question is where can I find copies of these older films? He died in 1958. Other relatives of mine are also interested in obtaining copies. I would also like to know where I can find more information on the work of stuntmen. Uncle Al worked with Yakima Canutt, who by the way was the only man who could do the stunt of jumping between the horses in the early "Stagecoach". Al also worked with great men such as Harry Carey, John Wayne, and a host of others during the years. He was in the profession for at least 22 years. I believe he first worked for John Ford as a horse wrangler. A relative of mine told me that Al was John Wayne's backup in the early days of his horseriding career and taught him to ride; when you saw a faraway shot of John Wayne riding a horse, it was really my Uncle Al.

Thanks so much for the info. I will definitely check out the sites you provided. I did not expect a response so quick. I sure would like to talk with Robert Osborne about movies, westerns in particular.
