That's it. He was writing to the president. And was informed by return post that freshwater pearls have no value.

Yeah, yeah, that's it!

Um. . . .

That sounds like exactly what I was seeing.

My TV service is Directv. So I guess it was them, not TCM. I wouldn't say it was flickering. Just jumping forward.

It's as if half the frames have been deleted. It's quite disconcerting. And takes away a considerable amount of the enjoyment of watching it.

Thank you for this Information . I will immediately stop watching TCM. -
Someone trying to spell mussel, or muscle in a movie and asking a person, or people around him for help rings a bell. But the identification remains tantalizingly out of reach. I believe it relates to Mussel Shoals, and the famous recording studio there. But maybe that's just me free associating.

San Diego's Chinatown is mostly historic. It was located just east of downtown. Today, in and around the city proper there are concentrations of Philippines, Vietnamese, Chaldean/Iraqis, and East Africans.

TCM presents another in it's series of Mike Leigh movies (the second) Tuesday with his excellent Secrets and Lies (1996). This was, I believe, the one that brought him to the attention of the general public--or at least mine. It's a wonderful story of people deciding to accept a good thing when it comes along, in spite of everything in their past, and their contemporary social condition that argues against it. Not to say there isn't a considerable amount of discomfort, awkwardness, and misjudgment involved. But if everything were easy, why bother making a movie? It's not a spoiler to tell people not to worry. A great big Thank You! to TCM. Let's hope for more! Secrets and Lies, Tuesday, November 20, 11:30 pm, Pacific.

Wait. Didn't I just watch that? No. Yes. I forget.

Someone is wondering if you could describe those clips. They escape him. -

Most of the other shots are from Killer's Kiss (1955), an early noiry thriller by Stanley Kubrick. -
