In the early summer of 2002 I saw this movie on TCM

It was about a couple who met on a boat. The young lady became pregnant. The man was married. His wife was sicky and unable to have a child. He ends up with the child - it was a girl. the birth mother works for the couple and helps raise the child. Child finds out when older and the couple ends up back together

The man and woman meet fall in love. They go back to the city, she finds she is pregnant. His wife who is ill comes back in the picture. The wife and the man adopt the baby. The birth mother joins the household and helps raise the child. It is not till when the child is older that the truth is revealed.
