Obviously, there are thousands of lost film's, the majority of them being silent films. As a major film buff, I am quite interested in collecting lost films to form a collection, as I believe that there are many great movies out there that were never really seen, and thus making lots of good talent go to waste.
In my searching for lost films, I discovered a gangster film based on the life of Dutch Shultz, a Jewish-mobster. The film is entitled "Portrait of a Mobster," and is based on the book of the same name by Harry Grey, the author of "The Hoods," which was turned into "Once Upon a Time in America" by Italian director Sergio Leone.
The reason that this lost film interests me so much, is that the majority of the lost films are silent, and came out in the late 19th to early 20th centuries. This one came out in 1961, according to IMDB. So, I must ask, has anybody out there seen this movie? And if so, could you please tell me where I could get it?
Thanks.
