Hooper, Matt -- Richard Dreyfuss in *Jaws* (1975)

Yea, Sixes!, at about 220 Views. Good comedy, raunchy as hell, filmed parallel to *The Godfather* in timing and release. I had occasion to cross paths briefly with Mr. Vanocur when he came to my campus to give a talk as part of the "Cultural Affairs" program. It was my job to meet him at the auditorium, arrange for lights down in the House and up on the Stage when his talk started; reverse that process when that was over. His subject matter was the Rep. and Dem. conventions of the preceding year. mr6666's thread.

The moonlighting newsman has done high-profile service as a network anchor, political nomination convention commentator, and as White House Correspondent.

From an on-the-scene newscast: "Brooklyn District Attorney __________ had scheduled a raid on _______ ________'s headquarters for nine o'clock, but one major network has been held up."

Bullseye, Mr. D. You stopped me just before the pie-in-the-face scene. Your thread. Have fun. The forum "Hot Topics" has a debate raging now re Ms. Ephron. tomdestry's thread.

At one point a crusading crimefighter DA, playing to the news cameras, is confronted with a real danger, winds up crawling under a table. The danger removed, he crosses himself and fervently whispers, "Oy vey!"

(24,966) Autobiographical novel > screenplay > author was also the director. The deceptive husband was a nationally-known figure in his own right.

(22,646) Variaion on a theme here. Find A Star from Another Galaxie in a Film. 1970s movie. A spoof on uh, Organized Crime themes. an authentic, serious career newscaster, using his own name and identity, gave on-camera news casts on the story, while actually functioning as narrator for the story line. One of his early comments: "_________ has been recognized as "Big Daddy" in the Mafia's Brooklyn Family ever since his best friend choked on a bullet while dining with him." Film? Other-wordly guest star?

Retiring the question. Another case where I regret that I didn't keep a Views count. 1978 TV miniseries *To Kill a Cop.* Joe Don Baker led the cast in the role of Det. Chief Earl Eischeid. The cast included Desi Arnez Jr, Scott Brady, Roosevelt Grier, Robert Hooks, Ertha Kitt. The following series was entitled *Eischeid*, with Mr. Baker continuing in that role. Open thread.

Correct. 1955's *The Eternal Sea,* a respectful biography of Adm. John Madison Hoskins, was a part of Sterling Hayden's superpatriot period. Later, of course, he frisked young punks in *The Godfather*, and conserved his precious bodily fluids in *Dr. Strangelove*. lavenderblue19's thread.

Just past 225 Views, a line from the star in his post-super patriot period: "I've frisked a thousand young punks." Edited by: flashback42 on Jun 30, 2012 8:46 AM
