  6. The actress / auto-biographer quoted -- She and her parents were deeply involved in the live theater community, with some film experience on occasion. In film, not the headline, "bankable" stars, but solid, respectable members of the profession. The family were also involved in training and coaching other actors. 11. The characters named previously are all related. They have another relative named Olive.
  12. This one has me stumped. Any Ratpackers involved?
  13. The police have good reason to try to discover why the detective was where he was when he died. At the dead man's house, they confront his hostile mother. In an Oscar-nominated performance she responds, "My Walter was as tough as a bar of iron, and he didn't get that from his father. Now, do you want to fight, Officer? Or do you want to get the hell out of my house?!"
  14. Filling in the blanks in the opening quote. (title) = Many Mansions (name) = Paula Wouldn't have helped me. May help someone else.
  15. Some working cowboys spot the runaway crossing the planes. They know bupkus from a reward, but they knew a good mount when they see one. They have him cornered, roped and down, ready for branding. The horse then kicks loose from the rope and makes his escape. Jumps from a high cliff into a deep river. They watch from above in admiration as he gets out of the stream and keeps on keeping on.
  16. Large cast; many characters. Three of the characters are named Nana, Castor and Cole.
  17. Of course he was. That's his business. cujas' thread
  18. A runaway horse, valuable animal with a reward offered. Some young men on motorcycles try to run it down and capture it. Unsuccessful.
  19. The speaker -- some solid acting chops, and also a solid rep as a standup. Specialized in insult. No glasses, no mustache.
  20. One of the crooked cops shows up while the caper's going down. In the dark, blunders through a door that shouldn't have been open, falls a couple of floors to his death.
  21. By happy coincidence, verbatum from an autobiography that arrived from Amazon yesterday. Do you know me? "I was onstage shortly before I was born. My mother was playing a part in (title) on Broadway. "But, (name)," the producer said to her, "the audience just can't accept a prostitute who's seven months pregnent." So we were fired." ??? 22. (12,467) Lots of music, lots of singing. Large cast but no one a name singer. As with this scene, several characters have numbers that identify and define them to the audience and -- help advance the plot. As with this number, there is often counterpoint from the others around the one who is momentarily the center of attention. Edited by: flashback42 on Mar 19, 2012 11:48 PM
